2. • I have learnt a great deal from the audience feedback I received from our trailer, mostly
that people thought it was a successful product that followed the typical conventions and
codes a horror trailer should, but was still original enough to stand our from the crowd.
• Although it was too late to act on some of the feedback we received, from what people in
our target audience said, I believe that our trailer was a success.
• Some aspects of the trailer that were praised is the editing, originality in the plot line and
the music.
• We did not receive much
constructive criticism but as
these comments on Facebook
were from our target audience,
I think they are a reliable
source.
• As I posted the link for the trailer
on my Facebook page, this way
an easy way of sharing my
product with the audience,
through doing this, I used the
principle of web 2.0.
3. Magazine Feedback
• I received feedback from my class on my magazine front cover. Most people in the
class thought it looked professional and well edited.
• However the issue of the magazine not having some sort of advertising label or an eye
catching poof on the page was brought up, so I went back and acted on this, adding in
a circle advertising the new film The Great Gatsby.
• By doing this, I was in touch with my
target audience and in result I think
it makes my magazine look more
professional. It is also something that
follows the conventions of a film
magazine.
4. Film Poster Feedback
• Before starting on my poster, I did many photo shoots to find the right photo to fit
both the genre of the film, but also fit in with the conventions of a film poster.
Around three weeks before the trailer shooting, I had our main actress do a photo
shoot for a possible poster image. From my research I had seen that many posters
used an image of the main character from the film as a device as the audience will
recognise the actor, and therefore the film.
• However when I went to edit the photos from the shoot, I thought the background
and the lighting would look more the part on a magazine front cover.
• I went out again and this time took a few pictures of the location for the asylum in the
trailer, and when I edited this image, I thought it fit in more with a film poster.
• I again asked people in my class if they preferred the image of the character or the
image of the location, and it was clear that this audience preferred the edited picture
of the asylum location.
5. This is the image I used for my
magazine cover in the end, as the
feedback I got suggested that it would
look better that way.
I took this picture and edited it in Photoshop to
give it a darker and spookier effect, the feedback
I got from it showed that this was more fitting
than the image of the character.
6. Poster Feedback
• When showing my audience my final film poster,
the response I got way very positive with people
saying that it looked professional and that from
the colours and image used, they wanted to know
more about the film.
• From the use of image suggested by the audience
in the first place, people said that it was eye
catching and it fit the genre of a psychological
horror very well. The audience also appreciated
the subtle use of the discoloured walls as the
background, and that although the layout of the
whole poster is simple, it is effective.
• I was concerned that the title was too large in
comparison to the image and the credits at the
bottom of the page, but I was told that it was large
enough to be eye catching, but not too large to
take up the whole page.
7. Overall Feedback
• The audience made it clear that it was simple to see the connection between all three
products and know that they are from the same production package, therefore letting
me know that I had been successful in establishing synergy in my work.
• Some people said that after seeing the trailer, it was easier to spot other aspects
featured on the magazine cover and the film poster, such as the asylum building
which is featured on both the poster and in the trailer and the wooded/grassy area
that is featured in the trailer and the magazine cover.
• By hearing this, I think it was a good idea to use a few of the same settings and
images in each product.
• Also the fact that these images are quite subtle and the audience still recognised them
as being similar means that the audience was engaged with what they were
watching, indicating that I had created successful products.
8. Overall Feedback
• From my overall feedback I can conclude that;
• I have created a successful production package that is recognisable through the
synergy used.
• The effects and conventions used follow the typical conventions of the genre
required, a psychological horror.
• They are seen as professional products that conform to media conventions.
• That through audience feedback, preferably the target audience, products can be
improved a lot.
