Heel Pain – Plantar “Fasciitis”
• Pain on the inner-bottom of the
heel.
• Typically is worse upon standing
after sitting for a while.
• Can take up to a year, or longer
to recover.
• Leading cause is over-pronation.
MYTH: Plantar fasciitis is due to an
inflammation of the plantar fascia.
Several scientific have confirmed there is no
inflammation. The main reason is due to
mechanical over-loading of the plantar fascia
from over-pronation.
Pain to the ball of the foot.
• Feels like a bruise or stabbing
pain while walking.
• Typically, does not cause any
pain unless standing/walking.
• Leading cause is over-pronation.
Inner Arch Pain
• Over-stretching of the main
tendon of the inner arch
(posterior tibial tendon).
• Associated with a “fallen” arch or
flexible flat feet.
• Leading cause is over-pronation.
Big Toe Joint Pain
• Bunion (hallux valgus)
• Limited big toe motion (hallux
rigidus)
• Pain is made worse with activity.
Usually shoes irritate the big toe
joint area.
• Leading cause is over-pronation.
Achilles Tendinitis
• Achilles is the strongest tendon
of the foot.
• Over-stretching leads to a
contraction of the tendon as a
protective mechanism.
• Worse with increase activity
level.
• Leading cause is over-pronation.
Numbness or Burning
to the bottom of the foot.
• Typically, worse either during or
after standing/walking.
• Starts in the toes/ball of the foot can
spread into the arch and up the leg.
• Due to compression and stretching
on the main nerve to the bottom of
the foot (posterior tibial).
• Leading cause is over-pronation.
Looks like the leading cause of foot
pain stems from over-pronation!
What is over-pronation?
Basically, it’s a
flexible hindfoot misalignment.
Foot pronation -
is a complex motion of the hindfoot.
Pronation
is the opposite motion of
supination.
Over-pronated Balanced Supinated
During walking, there should only be
a slight and short amount of
pronation.
Pronation makes the foot
slightly unstable;
it “unlocks” the foot bones
to adapt for an uneven ground surface.
“Over”
refers to excessive, prolonged,
too much, or hyper.
Over-pronation means there is an
excessive and extended duration of
the unlocking of the foot bones
during standing, walking or running.
Why is over-pronation
such a bad thing?
Over-pronation
places excessive strain
on the structures within the foot
while standing, walking or running.
The more you
stand, walk or run means there will
be more strain placed on the
structures within your foot.
Do we know
what causes over-pronation?
The ankle bone (talus)
partially displaces on the
heel bone (calcaneus).
This is an internal dislocation deformity.
NORMAL ABNORMAL
How can we fix that?
Observation
• This structural deformity will not
self-repair or go away on it’s own.
• It requires physical intervention.
• Doing nothing is the worse form
of “treatment”.
• It doesn’t get better, it gets worse.
Arch supports/Foot Orthotics
• Arch supports – custom or off-the-
shelf can be helpful for many foot
related conditions…however.
• When it comes to realigning and
maintaining the stability of the ankle
bone an arch support falls short.
• How can something placed below
the heel bone realign and stabilize a
bone above it?

  • 10. Heel Pain – Plantar “Fasciitis” • Pain on the inner-bottom of the heel. • Typically is worse upon standing after sitting for a while. • Can take up to a year, or longer to recover. • Leading cause is over-pronation.
  • 11. MYTH: Plantar fasciitis is due to an inflammation of the plantar fascia. Several scientific have confirmed there is no inflammation. The main reason is due to mechanical over-loading of the plantar fascia from over-pronation.
  • 12. Pain to the ball of the foot. • Feels like a bruise or stabbing pain while walking. • Typically, does not cause any pain unless standing/walking. • Leading cause is over-pronation.
  • 13. Inner Arch Pain • Over-stretching of the main tendon of the inner arch (posterior tibial tendon). • Associated with a “fallen” arch or flexible flat feet. • Leading cause is over-pronation.

  • 23. Pronation makes the foot slightly unstable; it “unlocks” the foot bones to adapt for an uneven ground surface.
  • 24. “Over” refers to excessive, prolonged, too much, or hyper.
  • 25. Over-pronation means there is an excessive and extended duration of the unlocking of the foot bones during standing, walking or running.
  • 27. Over-pronation places excessive strain on the structures within the foot while standing, walking or running.
  • 28. The more you stand, walk or run means there will be more strain placed on the structures within your foot.
  • 29. Do we know what causes over-pronation?
  • 30. The ankle bone (talus) partially displaces on the heel bone (calcaneus). This is an internal dislocation deformity. NORMAL ABNORMAL

  • 32. Observation • This structural deformity will not self-repair or go away on it’s own. • It requires physical intervention. • Doing nothing is the worse form of “treatment”. • It doesn’t get better, it gets worse.
