2. New Year is a New Chance
• Great time to evaluate your existing social media
marketing
• What’s working and what isn’t?
• What do you want to add to your social media
marketing plan for 2013?
3. 5 Social Media Resolutions
• Create a blog plan
• Promote posts more
• Better use of analytics
• Capture emails from blog visitors
• Concentrate on the best social media platforms
4. Create a blog plan
• Blog posts help your search engine rank
• How often do you currently blog?
• Create more How-To articles
• Aim to blog at least twice per week
• Set aside time on your calendar to blog
• Make an editorial calendar (lots of free templates
online)
5. Promote Blog Posts More
• One tweet is not enough
• To avoid looking like spam, change tweet to
contain things other than the blog post title
– A quote from the article
– A question answered in the post
• Take the time to create solid online relationships so
others will retweet your content
6. More Analysis
• Dive deeper than just traffic
– Bounce rate
– Most popular posts
– Time spent on site
– Conversions to sales
• Learn more about reports available in Google
Analytics
• Shows you what’s working (do more!)/what isn’t
(stop wasting time!)
7. Capture Emails
• Collect emails on your blog so you place contact
frequency in your hands, not visitor’s
• With an email newsletter, you can provide special
offers or content to show you value subscribers
• Not everyone on Facebook or Twitter will see your
posts, but more will see your email
– Be sure to use a service that does not send your messages
to the Bulk folder
8. Identify Best Platforms
• Looking at your traffic, what social sites are sending
you the most traffic?
• Are there sites that aren’t the right fit for your
company?
• Ex: B2B may do best on LinkedIn, B2C with a visual
product may do best on Pinterest
• Do more of what’s working, stop what isn’t working
• Limit social media platforms to the few with the best
results to avoid posting burnout.
