2. Background
I have used a variety of rectangles to create a background that becomes a border
once one more rectangle is added. I have used the same colours that have been
used on the front cover to keep a continuous theme throughout the magazine.
3. Main image
The main image is in the centre of the
page and a smaller blue rectangle has
been added to form a background for
the text that will be put on top. I have
changed the opacity of the rectangle so
it does not completely block out the
bottom section of the image.
4. Text and flash
I have added a pull quote
underneath the image to highlight
what the article is about. I have also
added a flash using two circles, one
to form a border to separate it from
the rest of the page.
5. Title
I have written in the title for the contents page. I have made it quote big to help
the reader quickly establish what the page is and draw there attention to it as it
will guide them through the rest of the magazine.
6. Page numbers
I have added the page number in a
bigger and fairly bold font to tell the
reader which page the main interview
is featured. I have made this page
number bigger than the rest to show
how it is the main feature for this
issue. I have used a small pink
rectangle that I have edited the
opacity on to make the text stand out
and stop it from blending with the
costume of the model.
7. Page numbers and footer
I have added the page number at the bottom of the page along with the web address
and a smaller version of the masthead. This is a stylistic feature that helps brand the
magazine. I have also created a box where the rest of the magazine features will be
listed. The title of this section is written in the same font as the title of the whole
page, showing its importance.
8. Magazine content
I have added a different feature next to each page number, directing the reader
towards the right section that they are looking for. I have included big names in this
section such as ‘Ellie Goulding’ and ‘The Saturdays’ as these are people that teens will
be looking out for.
9. Flash
I have now added the text into the
flash. I have enlarged the word ‘WIN’
and underlined it to enhance it and
draw the readers eye. I have also
included the page number at the
bottom the flash to direct the reader
to the correct page.
10. Flash 2
I have created another flash in the top
right hand corner to fill white space. In
the pop magazines I have looked at, all
space is filled. I have chosen to write
this to emphasise the fact that many
of the features are exclusive to the
magazine including the interview with
Nicki.
11. Smaller articles
I have started adding the images for the smaller articles that were
advertised on the front cover. I will do the same with each box as
what I have done at the bottom with ‘Molly Rose’. The text and
page number is not as big as that used on the main image of ‘Nicki’
as they are not a part of the main article (the double page spread).
It is usual for magazines to make a bigger deal of one feature in
particular in every issue.
13. Editorial
The editorial has been added in the top
left hand corner of the page, it is fairly
small so it doesn’t over power the rest of
the page and clash too much with the
image next to it. I have also signed the
editorial ‘Front the editors x’ to make it
seem more personal and ‘fun’.
14. Flash 3
The X Factor is a current topic which will draw the readers into wanting to
know what’s going on in auditions and gossip about the judges and previous
winners.
15. Social networking
This will give the magazine more
publicity and will become
increasingly popular when
people use social networking to
get in touch and discuss gossip
with the magazine.
