This chapt er mainly deals wit h t he behaviour of t he ball if when
kicked at a par t icular point on it .

The ball can be kicked on t op, middle or at t he bot t om and each
t ime t her e will be a dif f er ent ef f ect .

Under st anding t his will be key in execut ing t he skills which you
will be lear ning in t he due cour se.


I f your kicking leg is r ight – t hen your lef t leg point s or which

LEG POSI TI ON

Having a pr oper leg posit ion is t he impor t ant st ep of t he pr ocess.

You can kick t he ball, t ouch t he ball depending on what is r equir ed.

Kicking leg can be br ought as high as possible, depending on t he
power . Higher t he kicking leg, mor e power it can gener at e.

While t he kicking leg is t aken car e, t her e ar e par t s of your body
which must also be in sync – like ankle, knee, hips and t he f inale
‘f eet ’ t o give dir ect ion t o t he ball.


ANKLE POSI TI ON

Keep your non-kicking ankle r est ed t o
t he gr ound.

This adds t o your composur e and gives
you aClick toable stsubtitle style t o kick
st edit Master ance
t he ball.

Remember t o lock your ankle!!!

KNEE POSI TI ON

Your plant (non-kicking f oot ) knee
should be slight ly bent .

This will ensur e t hat you st r ike t he ball
wit h t he laces.

The mor e you bend t he knee t he mor e
chances you' ll have t o st r ike t he ball
wit h your laces.


PLANT DI STANCE

Tr y t o keep your plant leg about a f oot or a f oot and a half away
f r om t he ball.

This will ensur e t hat when you st r ike t he ball your kicking ankle
will be at a 45 degr ee angle: t he angle at which you' ll gener at e t he
most amount of power .


BODY POSI TI ON

I f you lean f or war d, it will ensur e your shot will st ay low t o t he
gr ound.

I f you lean back, t he ball will go up in t he air .


45 DEGREE
POSI TI ON

This is ext r emely impor t ant .

I f t his is not done cor r ect ly your shoot ing will not impr ove.

Your ankle needs t o be at about a 45 degr ee angle so t hat you can
st r ike t he ball wit h your laces.

I f you ar e not at t his angle t her e is a high chance t hat you will st r ike
t he ball wit h you t oes.

Always r emember – Never t o kick t he ball wit h your t oes!!!
