2. AGE AND OCCUPATION
• Sam is 21 and therefore he fits into the ideal
target audience that my magazine will appeal
to. He is in his last year at university doing his
degree in IT and computing. Because he is a
student at higher level, the language used in
my product will be accessible to him and will
appeal to him further.
3. Bands and Artists that Sam likes
Arctic Monkeys
Palma Violets
Cribs
Miles Kane
These appeal to tom because they are of the same age and all fit into
the indie/rock/alternative genre that he likes. In order for my magazine
to appeal to a person like Tom, I should bands like this in my contents
page as if bands similar to this are featured, he will be more inclined to
read it.
4. Hobbies
Sam’s hobbies are going out with
his friends at the weekend, going
to gigs, and writing on his blog.
These are typical things that those
his age would find appealing, and
so I have to take this and bring it
into my final product. One possible
idea that I could include is a report
of a music festival, as this
combines going out and going to a
gig, so including the majority of his
hobbies, meaning he will be more
inclined to read my product as it
will appeal to his interests.
5. PERSONALITY
Sam goes to university and so he has a
studious personality. He is interested
in current affairs and can access
academic language used in text. This is
further reflected through the fact that
he writes a blog.
Sam also likes to go out and go to gigs
so he also has an outgoing personality.
This can be generalised as many people
his age will be interested in letting loose
and having a good time.
With this taken into account, in order to appeal to Sam, I need to keep my magazine in
formal language so things aren't taken back to simple language which wouldn’t be very
stimulating for the mind, however also keep an element of fun and outgoing topics in order
to keep his interest.
