3. UNIT SUMMARY
In this unit, the students will learn the basics of
basketball. Students will spend 45 minutes on
dribbling drills and 45 minutes on shooting drills
including layups, free-throws and 3 pointers. Then
they will apply these skills in a scrimmage game.
Students will go overthe rules and violations in
basketball each day. They will also know the
different positions and plays in basketball and be
able to show they know these in game atmosphere.
4. Role of the Teacher
As the teacher, I will be walking around the
gym monitoring the students' progression as I
show them the basic skills of basketball. I will
coach them and improve their skills overtime. I
will teach them the rules, positions, plays and
every basic thing they need to know about the
game.
5. Role of the Parents
Parents need to make sure that their children
come prepared to school each day with gym,
shorts, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes as well. It
will also help if you practice with and
encourage your child at home. That way,
they will be progressing steadily and not lost
during the unit we are covering at school.

Objective: Students will improve their abilites
of dribbling the basketball and shooting.
Objective: Students will be able to identify the
rules and violations in basketball. They will
also know the different positions and plays in
basketball and be able to show they know
these in game atmosphere.
10. Project Based Learning
This is an instructional way of learning based
on student activities, that engage students
interest and motivation. I will make sure that
each student is involved and make sure they
are working together and motivating each
other. Working as a team is a huge part to
project based learning and I want to
incorporate that with this unit plan.
