Editor's Notes
Hi everyone. It’s very exciting to be here.I’m Victor and I’m going to tell you aboutUnioncyUnioncy is a platform to manage all things you already own and things you discover online
Did you know You and I have $5,000 worth of of things that we don’t use.Why do we have so many unused things? Two reasons: Consumerism & CLUTTERThere is so much physical and informational clutter that we become overwhelmed.Organizing all this clutter is a daunting task so we chose to ignore the problem.Instead, we fall in love with new things, some of which we buy, adding even more clutter & frustration.Without realizing, we have perfected a never-ending clutter cycle.
I want to credit Alex from GoodNightLamp for the slide.IoT is a technology heavy field. Now, we don’t know hardware, we don’t set standards, nor have enough R&D budget to improve battery life. The big boys will settle this in time. Until they do, Unioncy can do our thing. In the big picture, we feel that one part is missing in IoT. DESIGN. Our long-term play is to build the best user interface for managing our things. “The interface of things”Why the hell is it so complex to put your things into order? Because things still miss their own platform.
So we did it and so Unioncy was born. The vision is Titanic - Let’s take all the consumer products in the world and give them a home. An organized home. A Facebook for things. The solution is easy and directWe give you an overview by adding things you already own and things you discover online to your profile on Unioncy. We help you get more by knowing the market value you can trade things competentlyWe discover new & relevant things for you. And We make it social by sharing with friends and learning from experts(So, by now you started wondering – who are our users?)
We’ve already found our sweet spot early adopter “The life hacker”.Life hacking is a huge trend and they are looking for clever and non-obvious ways to solve everyday problems. It’s a big group, there are an estimated 50mn life hackers. The life hacker is our early adopter that will help us cross the chasmHow does it work? Let’s jump into a demo
(How does it work? Let’s jump into a demo)This is a screen from our MVP showing my co-founder Deyan’s catalog. The MVP lets you search from 80mn products and easily add them to your catalog. It’s a basic version that we created to test our proposition. The result: our top 100 users have added up and above 100 products each to their catalogue
We’ve interviewed our top 100 users and it turns out they are happy to list their items. However, they would add even more products if it’s done in a context. Not only organizing for the sake of organizing. Our next version is building on this insightWe have created easy functionality to organize for selling, insuring, giving awayWe gather data and present you with opportunities, eg the trend of the market price of your thingsWith integration to directly act, e.g. sell, in 1 click
We centralize control of your things in a dashboardTelling information like the current net worth of all your thingsOr how many things do you need to sell in order to buy the new iPhone. Buy and sell in 1 click
(Let’s look at the markets we are targeting.)We are in the intersection of several absolutely huge markets that are poised to be disrupted by the Internet of ThingsThe immediate market we are targeting is the organizing secondary market. Let’s use an example, I visit an online store and add a watch to Unioncy. Later on, another user sees my Watch on Unioncy, clicks it and ends up buying it from the original store. This market is worth over $40bnIn the long-run, the Total Market Opportunity is the entire online retail market which is worth around $1tn.How do we make money?
(Can this make money?)Yes, we already do. We currently get affiliate commission between 5-15% on all sales originating from our platform. In the long-term, our vision is to get revenues from on-platform trading – a marketplaceWhere are we now?
Letme go through the ”whole” teamJust me and DeyanWecomplementeachother - I’mfocusing on business & Deyan on Technology.
