Extraction Distribution Disposal Production Consumption Mariana Mejia Valdes Gerardo Antonio Padilla Lopez
CONSUMPTION The consume produced by advertisements that leads to the purchase of unnecessary products which are easily replaceable by other also unnecessary with short live. BENEFIT: maintain the production.
The consumption is the most important part of all the production, without consumption, there would be no production, no distribution, no extraction and no disposal. The consumption is not just a characteristic of developed countries, it happens all over the world.
How do they make us consume? MARKETING (advertising) Where can we see the advertising? EVERYWHERE! (TV, Magazines, Newspapers, Busses, spectaculars , social networks etc) Who can be affected? We all are (population)
Obsolescence Planned Obsolescence Designing and producing products in order for them to be used up (obsolete) within a specific time period. Products may be designed for obsolescence either through function, like a paper coffee cup or a machine with breakable parts, or through “desirability,” like a piece of clothing made for this year’s fashion and then replaced by something totally different next year. Planned obsolescence is also known as “design for the dump.”
Perceived Obsolescence The part of planned obsolescence that refers to “desirability”. In other words, an object may continue to be functional, but it is no longer perceived to be stylish or appropriate, so it is rendered obsolete by perception, rather than by function. Fashion is all about perceived obsolescence, and it could be said that perceived obsolescence is the number one “product” of the advertising industry.
Consumption in Mexico Mexico is a big consumer country and the economy of the people can’t sustain that kind of living culture. There are two different ways on how consumption affects Mexicans besides the environmental issues. Social Cultural
Social issues In the social area, mostly in Mexico, there is a huge differences between social classes, and the consumption just make it more distinguishable. So the consumption just promotes the differences between wealthy and non-wealthy people. Non-wealthy wealthy
Mexico is a consumer country, but one of the main reasons that makes Mexico a consumer, is the peer pressure, the culture in Mexico is so attached to the new tendencies and fashions, that people want to have the best stuff. This is a problem because, there are families that can’t afford the luxuries, so it begins affecting the family’s economy by the unnecessary expenses cause by the excessive consumption.
Cultural issues The problems do not end there, there is another danger: the next generations. These way of living, its not a problem just for the present, all the children are being raised with these consumption culture, so instead of decreasing, it will increase bringing more and more environmental problems.
