Women in society nowadays by Mercedes López Infante (4º)

Nowadays we can see that the role of women in Spanish Society has
changed and could still change.

Some years ago women woke up at 7:00 a.m., prepared breakfast for their
children, took them to school, did the shopping, and came back home to do
housework until 2:00 p.m., when they picked up their children from school.
So they could play with them, go to the park or listen to the radio:
“Simplemente María” during the afternoon.

Today, women still wake up at 7:00 a.m.; not only do they do the same
activities but also some others. They prepare lunch before taking their
children to school and then they go to work (doctor-nurse, teacher-actress,
lawyer-councilor, housekeeper or chef).

After work they start with their housework and they take their children to
different extra-curricular activities. However, their husband, relatives or
even friends lend her a hand and they may pick up the children from these
activities. It is a relief!

If they don’t work in the afternoon, they will probably be studying a course
at a University or on the Internet. Perhaps they will be studying English
because it is in fashion!

Don’t forger sports! Spanish women love sports, such as, running, swimming,
doing aerobics or cycling, so at 9:00 p.m. or at the weekend they are a good
complement to keep fit!

Women nowadays are busier than in the past. This is the consequence of
trying to do everything because women think that they should not leave
anything for anyone else to do.

Consequently, women are more stressed than in the past and they are
suffering from different diseases which were typical of men, such as,
stress, anxiety, heart attack, heart palpitations, insomnia, etc…

Women should try to change their lifestyle and to reduce their
responsibilities which are caused by our society. In many cases a hobby
makes you feel better so women should look for their favourite kind of
hobby in order to find happiness, for example; watching “El secreto del
Puente Viejo” on TV !.
