2. Psychoanalysis This was a clinical method devised by Sigmund Freud It aims to provide “insight” to a persons problems Helps the client better express their feelings and urges In this type of treatment there are many choices of how to deal with the patients “problem”. The 1st choice one had is catharsis this would provide relief by alleviating some of the forces assaulting the ego. The 2nd is free association where is when you actually just sit in a or lie in a chair and express everything that comes to your mind . The 3rd is transference where for ex. a young woman might answer to their therapist as a father or mother figure as to make them more comfortable with the treatment. The 4th is wish fulfillment this is where u would jot down all your dreams then you would discuss what you think they might mean or if they even have a meaning at all.

Humanistic Therapy This type of therapy focuses more on the quality of the patient’s subjective and conscious experiences It also focuses a lot on the here and now Carl Rogers was one of the people responsible for this type of therapy There are 2 different types of humanistic therapy Client Centered Therapy and Gestalt Therapy
4. 1st type of humanistic Therapy is Client Centered therAPY This type of therapy aims to provide insight into the parts of us that we have disowned so that we can feel whole again It encourage self- exploration and self- expression The therapists acceptance to the client is thought to foster self- acceptance and self- esteem This therapy is used a lot in colleges and universities This also helps clients arrive at their own decisions
5. 2nd type of humanistic therapy is gestalt therapy This therapy was designed by Fritz Peris It aims to help individuals integrate conflicting parts of their personality It also focuses on the here and now It is very directive The therapists leads the client through planned experiences

Behavior Therapy Focuses on what people feel and do It applies principles of learning to directly promote desired behavioral changes These therapists rely a lot on conditioning and observational learning There are many methods and procedures for this therapy They are as stated the fear- reduction method, modeling, aversive conditioning and biofeedback training. There are very many more procedures for this type of therapy it just all depends on what is the best one for you This therapy can help people get over smoking, overeating, phobias and things of that nature
7. Cognitive therapy Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis are responsible for this therapy This type of therapy focuses directly on your thoughts and encourages ideas that will help you solve problems rather than blow them out of proportion It also changes your beliefs, attitudes and automatic types of thinking that create peoples problems These type of therapists aim to foster “self- insight” They also aim to directly change bad thoughts in an effort to reduce negative feelings and help clients solve problems There are many procedures to this therapy some are systematic destination, covert sensitization, and covert reinforcement
