History of ANF ANF was started by the dream of its founders – Alfredo Pellas Jr., Theresa Pellas, and Father León Pallais – to take the initiative and do something to mitigate the effects of poverty in Nicaragua. In July 1992, ANF became officially regulated in the United States as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

29. Health – Education - Nutrition Aiding Nicaragua through our Distribution Network

ANF’s Distribution Network Area of Influence During the year 2007, ANF distributed aid to 1,360local organizations, which form part of our distribution network of 2,845organizations registered with the Foundation. We serve in all 15 departments of Nicaragua and both of its autonomous Atlantic regions.
32. Health “Healthy Communities” Program Through the distribution of vital medicines, this program increases the poor’s access to health and medical attention, in order to reduce the high levels of mortality and illness. Program sponsored by:

Education “Write your Future” Program Through the distribution of educational materials, this program providesthe opportunity for students to complete their primary education, increasing assistance and decreasing drop-out rates. Program sponsored by: This program supports 1,134 educational centers throughout Nicaragua.
35. Education “EducacionDigna” Program This program consists in the distribution of school desks and other furniture to impoverished schools with poor infrastructure. Program sponsored by: This program benefits more than 14,800 people and supports 110educational centers per year.

Nutrition “Nourishing our Community” Program This program consists in the distribution of nutritious food to places in need, diminishing the level of malnutrition, increasing school retention rates, and increasing the students’ overall academic performance in class. This program benefits more than 45,000 people per year and supports 311 local organizations like feeding centers and orphanages. Program sponsored by:
