2. Based on application valves are
classified as follows
Direction control valve : To change
the direction of the flow of fluid.
Pressure control valve : To control
the pressure of the fluid in the
system.
Flow control valve : To adjust the
flow rate of fluid.
Types of Valve
3. Valves are necessary to control the
pressure , flow rate and direction of the
fluid.
Hydraulic valves are made from strong
materials , e.g. Steel and are precision
manufactured. (High Pr. Range)
Pneumatic valves are made from
cheaper material , e.g. aluminum and
polymer and cheaper to manufacture.
(low Pr. Range)
Valve
Also known as slide valve
Spool moving horizontally within valve body
As spool moves inside valve certain passage get blocked by the lobe of the spool while other passage get connected , allows the fluid to flow from them.
Pressing of push button lifts the ball off from its seat and allows fluid to flow from one port to another.
When push button is released spring pressure and fluid pressure force ball up, closing the valve .
Poppet valve is simple , cheap and robust .
