Advancements in mobile technologies and related services have extended the ability to embed and experience media within various contexts including physical spaces and geo-graphical locations. These developments have been driven by the emergence of new ubiquitous communication cultures and the pervasive use of technologies for the augmentation of places, things and people. My contribution to the ‘SPOT ON – locative media’ seminar will explore current and future scenarios of Augmented Reality (AR) within the context of location based media. A broad survey of current and future AR tools and services will be reviewed with emphasis on practical applications.
