Polar bears are classified as kingdom Animalia, phylum Chordata, class Mammalia, order Carnivora, family Ursidae, genus Ursus, and species maritimus. While their fur appears white, it is actually clear and only looks white when sunlight reflects off of it. Polar bears live in northern Canada, Alaska, Greenland, and Russia, and their main food source is seals, though they also have predators like wolves and orcas.
