LSC FOOTBALL
The Lone Star Conference regular season concludes this week with teams competing for seeding in the league
playoffs. Texas A&M-Commerce has clinched a share of the LSC title and can win the crown outright with one
more victory. Angelo State, Midwestern State, West Texas A&M, and Tarleton State have identical 4-2 records
and are tied for second place. The sixth, seventh, and eighth spots are set with Eastern New Mexico, McMurry,
and Texas A&M-Kingsville, respectively.
Here is a closer look at last week’s games:
• MSU snapped A&M-C’s five-game winning streak with a stunning 40-37 overtime win.
• WT got back on the winning track with a 48-21 victory over TAMUK.
• ASU captured its second straight contest over ENMU 41-20.
• TSU won its third straight game with a 64-7 win over McM.
This week’s schedule includes four conference contests with McM at A&M-C, WT at ENMU, MSU at TAMUK,
and ASU at TSU.
LSC football teams are 32-28 overall this season. The squads are 5-1 combined versus the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference
teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.
LSC FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS
After playing seven conference games apiece over the first nine weeks of an 11-week regular season, the Lone
Star Conference’s eight football teams will split into two brackets to conduct a two-week conference playoff
on November 8 and 15. The conference champion and playoff seeding will be determined by regular season
results with the higher seeds hosting each round.
The top four teams (No. 4 at No. 1 and No. 3 at No. 2) comprise the championship bracket with Week 10
winners playing for the playoff title in Week 11, whereas Week 10 losers will meet for third place. The other
half of the bracket includes the remaining four teams with No. 8 at No. 5 and No. 7 at No. 6 in Week 10. The
winners will play for fifth-place in Week 11, while the losers meet in the seventh-place game.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Chauncey Harris, Midwestern State University, SR, RB, San Antonio, Texas, Judson HS
Harris rushed for a season-high 169 yards and three touchdowns including the game winner in overtime to
help Midwestern State to a 40-37 win over No. 22-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday night at Memorial
Stadium. The senior running back from San Antonio ran for 162 yards in the second half scoring all three of his
touchdowns in the fourth quarter and overtime to help MSU overcome a 31-14 deficit with 10 minutes to play.
DEFENSIVE
Rush Seaver, Angelo State University, SR, LB, Lampasas, Texas, Lampasas HS
Seaver made a career-high and NCAA Division II season-best 23 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss as the Rams
defeated Eastern New Mexico 41-20. Twelve of his 23 came in the second half as ASU limited the Greyhounds
to just 110 total yards in the second half. It is the second time this season the Seaver has recorded at least 20
tackles in a game. The Lampasas native has moved into No. 5 on the ASU career list with 344 total tackles.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Conner Hollabaugh, West Texas A&M University, SO, K, Amarillo, Texas, Caprock HS
Hollabaugh kicked a career-long 55-yard field goal as time expired in the first half in the Buffs’ 48-21 victory
over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday. The 55-yard effort matches the second best in NCAA Division II this year.
The sophomore also added a 38-yarder in the fourth quarter. He had eight kickoffs for 497 yards and an
average of 62.1. Hollabaugh is 13 of 15 in field goals this season and 32 of 34 in extra points. He is 2 for 2 in
field goals this season over 40 yards.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
E’lon Spight, Eastern New Mexico University, rushed for 196 yards at Angelo State and crossed the goal line
twice. Of his 40 carries in the game, 14 resulted in Greyhound first downs. His one-yard touchdown run on
fourth down staked Eastern to a 7-0 lead, in the first quarter. Spight is the only player in the LSC with 1,000
yards rushing this season and is tied for the conference lead, with 14 touchdowns.
Geremy Alridge-Mitchell, West Texas A&M University, had his sixth consecutive game of over 100 yards
rushing and fourth straight game of two touchdowns on the ground in the Buffs’ 48-21 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville
Saturday. A-Mitchell also had a career-high 73 yards receiving on four catches and his second career
receiving touchdown. He also had 83 yards in kick returns and tallied a season-high 277 all-purpose yards.
Shawn Vasquez, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, led all Javelina players with 107 yards rushing and added
one touchdown... the mark was a career-high for the junior newcomer... his touchdown late in the third quarter
was his third on the year.
Collin Strahan, Tarleton State University, continued to lead Tarleton’s offensive onslaught last weekend as
the Texan quarterback led Tarleton State to its third straight win with a 64-7 victory over McMurry Saturday
afternoon. Strahan accounted for nearly as many total yards (238) as the entire McMurry offense (239) to

go along with five total touchdowns. The Texan signal
caller threw for 197 yards on 15-22 passing with
three touchdowns and no turnovers. On the ground,
the dual-threat QB amassed 41 yards on 10 carries
with two touchdowns. He also converted a two-point
conversion on the ground. Strahan has guided
the Texans to three straight wins, which is now the
longest in the conference, as well as 1,843 total yards
of offense and 67.7 points per game.
Vernon Johnson, Texas A&M University -
Commerce, turned a career-game in the Lions
overtime loss at Midwestern State. The senior
receiver hauled in a career-high 11 catches for a
career-high 180 yards including a 57-yard strike from
quarterback Tyrik Rollison on the game’s third play for
is lone TD of the game. Johnson leads the Lions in
receptions and has turned in four 100-yard receiving
games including three straight.
Hunter Streuling, West Texas A&M University,
tallied two interceptions against Texas A&M-Kingsville
Saturday. It led to six points for the Buffs on
a pair of field goals in points off turnovers. It was the
first two interception game by a Buff this season and
first since John McSheffery picked two last season at
Midwestern State. Streuling had 10 total tackles for
his second double-digit tackle game of the season
with nine assisted stops. The two interceptions were
the second and third of the season for him as he leads
the team in INTs.
Seth Bailey, Eastern New Mexico University, led
a strong defensive effort by the Greyhounds which
only allowed 252 yards of total offense to the Rams.
Entering the game, Angelo State had averaged 507
yards per game. Eastern allowed just two third-down
conversions in 11 attempts. One of Bailey’s tackles
thwarted a fourth-and-one run by the Rams.
Cameron Williams, Midwestern State University,
pounced on a fumble midway through the fourth
quarter to help Midwestern State overcome a
17-point deficit with 10 minutes to play to claim a
40-37 win over No. 22-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce
Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The senior
defensive lineman from Giddings forced Ricky Collins
to fumble the covered it at the A&M-Commerce
25-yard line to allow MSU to pull to within a single
possession at 31-27 with 5:35 to play. Williams
finished the game with seven tackles and was in on
two tackles for loss and a sack.
Davarus Shores, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
was all over the field for the Lions. The usually
reserve-roled linebacker who excels on special teams
had to contribute on the defensive side Saturday for
the Lions. He amassed six tackles including two solo
stops. He was in the backfield accounting for one and
a half tackles for loss and in the secondary batting
down a team-high three passes. Shores leads the
league and is fourth in the NCAA on block punts on
the season.
Devin Figures, Tarleton State University, scored the
first defensive touchdown of the season for Tarleton
State with a momentum-shifting 99-yard fumble
return for a score. With Tarleton leading 21-7 with
4:51 left in the first half, McMurry was working on its
best drive of the day – having going 69 yards on 14
plays in over six minutes – and was just one yard away
from scoring and making it a one-possession game.
When the Warhawk running back lost the handle
trying to reach for the end zone, Figures was there
to scoop up the loose ball and run it the length of
the field for a touchdown to extend Tarleton’s lead
to 27-7. After that drive, McMurry only managed
two more first downs for the entire game. Figures’
fumble return is now the longest fumble return for
a touchdown in school history, breaking Ken Jones’
previous record of 85 set against Sam Houston State
on Oct. 9, 2003. Figures also had four tackles and
one of four Tarleton interceptions on the afternoon.
Figures was a part of the defense that kept McMurry
in check to the tune of just 239 yards of total offense
for the game.
Kevin Reaves, Eastern New Mexico University,
registered a 53-yard punt return in the fourth quarter
at Angelo State, to set up a Greyhound drive start at
the Ram’s 28-yard line. Eastern trailed 28-20 at the
time. He also made four tackles in the game.
Bubba Tandy, Tarleton State University, continued
to give Tarleton a spark in special teams as the
sophomore wide receiver returned six kicks for 119
total yards against McMurry last weekend. The bulk
of Tandy’s yardage came in the punt-return game
with 103 yards on five returns, including a 71-yard
return. He also had one kickoff return for 16 yards.
Anthony Yancy, Angelo State University, electrified
the home crowd on Saturday night by recording his
second career kickoff return for a touchdown. The
Fresno, Calif., native took the kick at the 3-yard line
and found a seam returning it for 97 yards. It is the
senior’s second kickoff return touchdown of the year.
He is currently tied for the NCAA Division II lead for
return TD’s with two and leads the conference in
return yards averaging 34.1 yards per game.
Mitchell Henton, Midwestern State University,
averaged 40.5 yards on six punts with a long of 55
yards while helping Midwestern State claim a 40-37
win over No. 22-ranked Texas A&M-commerce in
overtime Saturday nigh at Memorial Stadium. The
freshman from Lake Highlands High held the Lions
without a return while placing one of his punts inside
the 20-yard line. Henton leads the LSC with a 42.3
punting average.
Chase Thrasher, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
who turned in arguably one of the best performances
of his career last week holding the then best kickoff
return team in the country, West Texas A&M, at bay
was again affective in limiting the MSU offense with
poor field position. Thrasher punted four times for
the Lions placing three inside the 20-yard line. He also
had seven kickoffs with five touchbacks.

Angelo State
The Rams moved to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the LSC after
beating ENMU 41-20 … Rush Seaver led all tacklers
with 23 stops and helped limit the Greyhounds to
just 110 yards of total offense in the second half … It
was the first win over ENMU in San Angelo since 2010
… Jesse Hanson IV returned a fumble 49 yards for a
touchdown for ASU’s second defensive touchdown
of the season … Anthony Yancy recorded his second
kickoff return for a touchdown after taking the kick 97
yards … The Rams forced three turnovers and made
sacked the Greyhounds five times … Peter Marquez
made field goals of 23 and 21 … Five different Rams
recorded a sack … Kyle Washington hit Talon Smith
for a 4-yard touchdown to extend his streak of
14-straight games with a touchdown pass … ASU will
travel to Stephenville to face Tarleton State to close
out the regular season at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico University football team
registered a strong performance against Angelo State
and limited the Rams to just 252 yards of total offense
and a pair of third down conversions. The Rams,
however scored 14 points off turnovers and returned
a kickoff 97 yards to earn a 41-20 win over ENMU.
E’lon Spight rushed for 196 yards on 40 carries.
Spight leads the LSC in rushing and is the only player
in the league with 1,000 rushing yards. This week, the

Greyhounds will host West Texas A&M.

Midwestern State
Midwestern State snapped Texas A&M-Commerce’s
five-game winning streak with a stunning 40-37
overtime win Saturday night at Memorial Stadium...
It was MSU’s first win against a nationally ranked
opponent since beating No. 8 West Alabama 45-21 on
Oct. 19, 2013 in Livingston... MSU has won seven of its
last 10 games against nationally ranked opposition...
Midwestern also defeated A&M-Commerce the last
time the Lions were ranked by a 24-16 count on Sept.
22, 2001... The Mustangs have won three of the last
four times it faced a ranked opponent as an unranked
team including wins over No. 21 Newberry (24-10 in
2008), No. 16 Texas A&M-Kingsville (44-38 in 2011
and Saturday against No. 22-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce...
MSU is 14-23 against nationally ranked
opponents during the Bill Maskill era (2002-present)...
The Mustangs improved to 17-10 in Homecoming
contest including an 11-2 mark during the Maskill
era... It was the third time MSU rallied from a 10-point
deficit to win this season... Bill Maskill claimed his
100th win as Midwestern State’s head coach and is
100-39 since taking over the reins in 2002... Senior
running back Chauncey Harris passed BeeJay Mathis
(1,353 yards/2007-09) and Stephon Brockington
(1,290 yards/1994-95) and is tied for 13th on MSU’s
all-time rushing list with Ulysses Odoms (1,380
yards/2005-06)... Harris rushed for a season-high
169 yards and three touchdowns to account for the
second best rushing day of his career. He ran for 232
yards against West Georgia in 2012... Harris was the
third rusher to go over 100 yards this season for the
Mustangs joining sophomore Dante Taylor (4 times)
and redshirt-freshman Hagen Hutchinson (1 time)...
Tarleton State
Tarleton State won its third straight game Saturday
with a 64-7 win over McMurry in the first meeting
between the Texans and Warhawks since 1990.
Tarleton won its 14th straight over McMurry dating
back to 1984. The Texans topped 50 points in their
third straight game for just the third time in school
history, joining the 2001 team and the 1919 junior
college squad. In addition to the win, Devin Figures
also set the school record for the longest fumble
return for a touchdown by taking a loose ball back
99 yards to the house and his fellow safety, Charles
Moore, became the fifth Texan since 1961 and first
since 2005 to grab three interceptions in a game.
Clifton Rhodes III highlighted the day, however, by
grabbing four catches for 82 yards and becoming the
school’s leader in all-time receiving yards with 2,615
in his career. Tarleton will host Angelo State Saturday
at 7 p.m. on Military Appreciation and Senior Day at
Memorial Stadium.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions enter the game at 284-209-12 in 505 LSC
games ... At 5-1 in LSC play, the Lions guaranteed
a themselves share of the LSC title ... The 21st in
program history and first since 1990.
- A win Saturday gives the Lions the outright LSC
title for the 15th time ... The football program has
now won at least one title under every name of the
university.
- The Lions retook the top spot as the NCAA’s best
scoring offense averaging 49.6 points per game
... A&M-Commerce is also ranked third in passing
offense at 376.3 yards per game and fourth in total
offense at 521.9 yards per game ... On the defensive
side, the team is ranked second in team tackles for
a loss ... Saul Martinez leads the NCAA in field goals
per game.
- Tyrik Rollison is not only the league’s leader in
passing yards per game at 345.9, but he is ranked
sixth in the nation ... Rollison also finds himself
leading the LSC in passing TDs, passing efficiency,
completions per game and total offense.
- Despite his stumble Saturday, Saul Martinez
remains the best kicker in the LSC ... Martinez leads
the NCAA in field goals made and ranked 13th in field
goal percentage ... Martinez is also ranked seventh in
the NCAA and is the LSC leader in scoring.
- Defensively, A&M-Commerce boost the second
best tackle for loss team in the NCAA with Toni Pulu
leading way averaging two per game ... Pulu leads the
LSC and is seventh in the NCAA ... Three other Lions
are ranked in the top ten in the LSC in tackles for loss
-- Cole Pitts, fifth, Ashton Dorsey, sixth, and Charles
Woods, seventh.
- Woods is the third leading tackler in the LSC and is
ranked 13th in the NCAA averaging 11.9 per game.
- In the secondary, Ronald Fields is the standard
bearer in the LSC daring teams to throw his way ...
Fields leads the conference in passes defended ...
Fields has two INTs to his credit on the year.
- As for receivers, the Lions have arguably the best
duo in the league in Ricky Collins and Vernon Johnson
... Collins leads the lead in receiving yards, receiving
yards per game and receiving TDs ... Johnson tops the
conference in receptions per game.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Shawn Vasquez continued to run the ball at will
behind great protection by the offensive line, but
despite leading all TAMUK players with 107 rushing
yards, Texas A&M University-Kingsville (1-7, 0-6 LSC)
fell victim to costly penalties as West Texas A&M
University (5-3, 4-2 LSC) defeated the Javelinas,
48-21, on Saturday afternoon at Happy State Bank
Field at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium. The Hogs
outrushed the Buffaloes 301-196 but were tagged 99
yards on 11 penalties. WT took advantage of those
miscues to keep steady in the jam-packed Lone Star
Conference standings.
West Texas A&M
WT got back on the winning track with a 48-21 victory
over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday on Senior Day...
Prior to the game, the Buffs honored 14 seniors
playing in their final regular season home game in
a Buffalo Uniform...Junior running back Geremy
Alridge-Mitchell tallied his sixth 100-yard rushing
game and his fourth game of two touchdowns on the
ground with 121 yards on 21 carries...He also had a
career-high 73 yards receiving on four catches and
a touchdown...Junior Xavier Amey earned his first
start of the season and had one catch for 55 yards
and a touchdown...Quarterback Preston Rabb went
20 of 30 for 296 yards three touchdowns and one
interception...Sophomore kicker Conner Hollabaugh
went 2 for 2 in field goals, including a career-high
55-yarder as time expired in the first half...He
added a 38-yarder in the fourth quarter as he is 13
of 15 in field goals this season...Redshirt freshman
Hunter Streuling tallied two interceptions against
the Javelinas for the first two interception game by
a Buff this season...It was the first two INT game by
Buff since John McSheffery tallied two at Midwestern
State last season...Streuling tallied his second double-digit
tackle game this season with 10 total tackles and
