this at the Registration Open House. Early enrollment
in these classes is not accepted. Since enrollment in
these classes is on a first-come, first-served basis, and
the class fee is paid at that time, make it a priority on
the day of the Open House to go directly to the sign up
tables when the doors open.

Texas Centennial Exposition in 1936
In 1936, Texas celebrated the 100th anniversary of its independence
from Mexico by producing the Southwest’s first world’s fair, the Texas
Centennial Exposition. More than 75 years later, Fair Park in Dallas
still contains one of the nation’s best collections of Art Deco art and
architecture and the only surviving exposition grounds from America’s
great age of world’s fairs in the 1930s. Jim Parsons and David Bush,
authors of the new book, Fair Park Deco, will use original and historic
photographs and period newsreels to guide you through the Texas
Centennial Exposition as you might have experienced it in 1936.

Founding of America and Curbing Democracy
Popular cultural myths and patriotic rhetoric suggest that America
is a democracy. However, much research in political science points
out different ways in which our political system is designed to limit, if
not minimize, popular rule. In this lecture, Mayia Shulga, Associate
Professor of Political Science, will focus on arguments of two
prominent scholars who explain why founding of America was far
from realizing democratic values.

Democratic Battles, and the Changing Face of Texas
Politics in the 1950s
The presentation will focus on conflicts in the Texas Democratic Party

Thank You, ALL Volunteers
LSC-CyFair extends a thank you to all of the volunteers who help
make the ALL program and the college such a success. Without
the many volunteers helping with committees, instructing classes,
and organizing activities, the ALL program would not exist. We
appreciate our many community members who help decide class
selection and find our speakers. They share their knowledge and
enthusiasm about their areas of interest which helps us offer more
classes with a greater variety. We want to also acknowledge the
great benefits ALL brings to the campus; from helping with student
registration, to working the annual CyFest, to being a visible
presence to the student on campus proving that learning never
goes out of style.

bring them back?
