Facts
• There are over 50,000 known species of
Mollusks,
• It’s body has three parts : A muscular foot for
locomotion, mantle that produces the shell,
and the visceral mass that contains the
internal organs

Gastropods
• Commonly known as snails and slugs
• Most highly diversified class in the phylum,
with 60,000 to 80,000 living snail and
slug species
• Also called univalves

Bivalves
• 15,000 species
• Consist of two shells attached to each other
• Used their, mantle cavity to feed by trapping
suspended particles in water and for gas
exchange
