  red
  hen
  named
  Betsy.
  Once

Betsy
  found
  a
  wheat
  seed
  and

she
  ran
  home
  ,
  went
  to
  the
  field

and
  planted
  it.
  In
  a
  couple
  of

weeks
  she
  had
  four
  wheat
  plants.

Betsy
  ran
  as
  fast
  as
  she
  could
  to

the
  market!
  She
  gave
  the
  wheat

to
  the
  merchant.
  The
  merchant

grounded
  the

  wheat
  and

Betsy
  got
  two

  bags
  of
  flour.

 When
  she
  got
  home
  she
  asked

her
  friend
  Cathy
  the
  cat
  if
  she

would
  help
  her
  make
  pie
  crust?

“NO”,
  said
  Cathy

  “Ok”,
  said
  Betsy.
  And
  she

went
  to
  her
  other
  friend
  Martha

Mu3.
  Betsy
  asked
  if
  she
  would

help
  her
  make
  pie
  crust?

  “No”,
  said
  Martha

  “Ok”,
  said
  Betsy.
  So
  Betsy

went
  and
  made
  the
  dough
  ,
  and

put
  it
  in
  the
  oven
  at
  350° for an
hour.

While,
  the
  pie
  crust
  was
  cooking,

Betsy
  went
  out
  to
  the
  market
  and

bought
  cherries.
  When
  she
  got

home
  she
  asked
  if
  Martha
  or

Cathy
  would
  help.

  “No”,
  they
  both
  said.

  “Ok”,
  said
  Betsy.
  So
  Betsy

went
  inside,
  mashed
  up

the
  cherries,
  took
  the
  pie

crust
  out,
  put
  the
  cherries

in
  the
  pie
  and
  put
  it
  in
  the
  oven.

In
  a
  hour,
  she
  had
  a
  pie!
  She
  took

the
  pie
  outside
  and
  there
  was

Cathy
  and
  Martha
  running
  down

the
  street
  and
  they
  both
  ask,
  “Can

I
  have
  some?”

 “Well,
  ok”,
  consented
  Betsy.

And
  they
  shared
  the
  cherry
  pie.
