Angry Crowds During the French Revolution The Aristocracy Group

One thing that leaded to the French Revolution was that people were not treated equally in French society. They were divided into three estates: The Aristocracy Group ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Only about 2% of the people belonged to these two estates. Yet they owned 30% of the land and paid little or no taxes. They had easy lives. Why were they angry?

The Aristocracy Group The members of the Third Estate were angry. They had few rights . They paid up to half of their income in taxes , while the rich paid almost none. There were three things which led to revolution: ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

The Aristocracy Group These are some of the events that made crowds angry in 1789: July – An estimated 150,000 of Paris's 600,000 people are without work . July 11 – The King of France fires popular Chief Minister Jacques Necker . He was a French statesman from Swiss and a finance minister of Louis XVI, a post he held in the lead up to the French Revolution. July 12 – An angry Parisian crowd demonstrates against the King’s decision to dismiss Minister Necker. July 13 – The people begin to seize arms for the defense of Paris. July 14 – The French Revolution (1789–1799) begins: Citizens of Paris storm the Bastille and free seven prisoners. In rural areas, peasants attack noble manors.
