Introduction Student Page Title Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] It is spring break ‘08 and you and your friends  have no idea how to spend your free time.  You see a flyer which has the following  mission written: Do you have what it takes to rid a whole town of its trashy habits in just one week? If you believe that you are the one that can complete this with a little help from your friends gather them and meet next week at Wonderland Park to pick up the mission details packet by the big Oak tree.  After  reading the mission details decided if you are the ones for the job and give  yourselves a team name and pack  you bags you are going to  Wasteville!

Wasteville members  have  changed their ways thanks to you and now    it  is time for you to give Wasteville the name they now deserve.  Along with your teammates your finally mission is to rename Wasteville.  Thank your for all of your help.  It  could not have done it without you! Teacher’s Introduction  [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page This WebQuest lesson plan was designed as part of the  curriculum in EDUC 331 in the Teacher Education Program.  This class takes place at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.  This WebQuest is designed for an Earth Science or Biology class.  This WebQuest,  Recycling Wasteville , navigates students in teams of four, or less if you want them to work in pairs.  You will just have them take on two manager roles each. During this WebQuest the students are asked to pick management roles and complete each of the tasks associated with that role.  The tasks include defining reduce, reuse and recycle, identifying recyclable items, make fliers of these items, thinking of ways to reduce waste in their lives at school, home and in the community . [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page This WebQuest was designed with either a Biology or Environmental Science class in mind but it can be used any way you desire.  It might be a good lesson plan for Earth Day, Arbor Day or any environmental awareness lesson.  This WebQuest could be used for middle school or high school students.  Modifications might need to be made to the rubric to adjust to the students level.  There is no major prior knowledge needed to complete this WebQuest.  The WebQuest will involve website navigation, story writing and map making.  A class discussion about recycle might be useful.  Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion

I would recommend showing them how to use the links to navigate from page to page, epically in the process section where they have to click on the earths.  Splitting the students into their teams and having the roles established before going over the manager roles may save you some time in explaining each task to each group.  Navigating a couple of the websites as a class might also be helpful. Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion

It is not designed to be too difficult but the students should be able to learn the basics of recycling while expressing their creative sides. This class takes place at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. This WebQuest is designed for an Earth Science or Biology class. This WebQuest, Recycling Wasteville , navigates students in teams of four, or less if you want them to work in pairs. You will just have them take on two manager roles each. During this WebQuest the students are asked to pick management roles and complete each of the tasks associated with that role. The tasks include defining reduce, reuse and recycle, identifying recyclable items, make fliers of these items, thinking of ways to reduce waste in their lives at school, home and in the community .
