•Photo shoot Planning Sheet
•Photographer: Liam Rigby
•Model: Matthew Ryan, Ross Young
•Date of Shoot: 20/11/12
•Title of shoot: Zombified
•Call Time: 8:00 AM
•Theme: Half Zombie Half Human like, Outside in field like place, Urban – just woke up, tired.
•The aim of this photo shoot will be to capture an image of a stereotypical student at
college/school being very tired and needing energy. This is to help advertise it to my target
audience which is mainly youth/teenagers. The name “zombified – rise from the dead” will help
enforce the idea of drinking when a person is in need of energy.
•Location of Shoot: Priestley college front Garden
•Meeting point: Warrington Town Centre
•Wardrobe: Ripped clothes/school uniform
•Hair and makeup: Messy hair as if just woke up
•Props: None
•Necessary kit: Canon EOS 1100D, Tripod
•Others Present: None
To make the model look like a zombie I will edit the photos after they are taken on a photo
editing software in order to add extra effects such as eye colour and skin tone, without having to
spend extra money on makeup. I will also use a second model to act out as a normal citizen in
order to create a contrast between for the “zombie” theme.
Before taking pictures for a media product i decided to do some research on how to do a good photo
shoot. For this I watched a few YouTube videos and made notes on what i feel was important to
know, here is what I learned:
Try and use the best quality camera you have access to as this will produce a better picture. If possible try to
use an SLR camera.
Secondly find your subject, for example if I am taking photo's of an energy drink I will need someone to hold
it and advertise it.
Lighting - try to use lighting equipment where possible, if equipment is not accessible then you can go
outside just make sure the sun is not shining into the camera lens.
Adjust the shutter speed to a suitable speed, for example if the subject is moving you will need a fast shutter
speed, if the subject is still but moving an object that you may want blurred slow the shutter speed down.
Adjust the clothing on the subject - depending on what the purpose of the photo shoot is you will want to
adjust the clothing to a suitable style e.g. undoing a few buttons, rolling up sleeves or unfolding the collar
will convey a more "cool", laid back look.
Frame your subject - Make sure there is no clutter in the background as this will distract the viewer from the
main subject. Use the rule of thirds to help position the subject and get the most important bits in the shot.
Change the focus to make the subject clear and the background blurry.
Try to use a photolens if possible to access one.
Play around with the aperture and iso to make sure they capture the picture you want - you don't want to
take pictures that come out darker than expected.
Talk to the subject to find out what parts of their body they are insecure about - this way you can work
around this making them feel comfortable and therefore getting more naturalistic shots.
Keep the subject moving and try to change the environment as this gives a variety of shots to choose from
and keeps the subject interested - if you stay in the same room for too long they will most likely become
bored.
Use a variety of facial expressions to see which different ones work the best.
Experiment with props.
In planning my Photo shoot I need to be careful not to produce images that might scare the
audience and put them off the product. To do this I made sure I did not make my images too
graphical when shooting and editing them. I could have used blood and fake cuts and wounds to
make the Zombie scarier and more graphic, however I kept the graphicness of the images at a
certain level to make sure that the audience would not be too scared or put off by the gory
effects.
