Expose youth to career options they never knew existed Narrow down choices based on strengths and interests Focus on soft skill building that is currently lacking in Generation Y Giving youth an edge over same aged individuals who are exiting high school and entering the workforce Students spend a specific number of hours working through KeyTrain Hard Skills (Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, Locating Information) – Also spend a specific number of hours working through KeyTrain Soft Skills (Work Habits, The Job Search, Communication Skills, Workplace Effectiveness, Business Etiquette). Soft Skill building is followed by a mock interview, a job shadow, and a powerpoint presentation. Students also complete the WorkKeys exam. Businesses provide job shadowing sites / experiences, conduct interviews, provide work experiences, and participate in relevant community experiences, request profiling for WorkKeys. Support further credentialing and further business awareness of WorkKeys

CR – OKCIS, Career Clusters Survey, Overview, Wages, Top Three – Research Papers on all 3, power presentation on top choice Hard Skills Soft Skills WorkKeys Exam – Mention 1 session vs 1 session per day Interview – Video Taped, members of the community / SCOWIB, instant feedback through form and self evaluation on videotape. Job Shadowing in top choice when possible. Discuss process for selection (non-demand occupation) and what happens when youth chooses THREE non-demand occupations.
