Why We Should Legalize Abortion
Abortion was legalized in 1973 by the U.S. Supreme Court case called Roe vs. Wade. Now, there
are approximately 125,000 abortions per day worldwide, and 3,000 per day in the United States.
These statistics would not be an issue if abortion was illegal once again. Women these days are
using abortion as an excuse, or as a form of birth control. Abortion is murder, and defies the laws that
America was originally built on. Abortion is also unhealthy and can lead to major health problems
with the mother. The abortion procedure should not be legal in the United States. Abortion is
murder, and the fetus can feel the procedure. According to the federal Unborn Victims of Violence
Act, unborn babies are considered human beings, and this act protects...show more content...
Women who get abortions are more at risk for anxiety and depression disorders. Out of more than
172,000 American women who aborted, they were 154% more likely to commit suicide. In
1996, a study was published in the British Medical Journal stating that the "mean annual suicide
rate amongst women who had an abortion was 34.7 per 100,000, compared with a mean rate of
11.3 per 100,000 in the general population of women." These statistics are significant because they
show that abortion is taking away more than just the baby's life. Fifteen percent of first trimester
miscarriages are due to a prior history of abortions. So if a women has had an abortion in the past,
they may not be able to have a child of their own in the future. Lastly, women who have aborted
are more likely to have breast cancer, while breastfeeding actually decreases the risk, so having a
child can actually be beneficial for the mother. The risk for breast cancer increases as the number of
abortions increase. Abortion is unhealthy for the mother and can cause phycological damage. In
conclusion, abortion needs to be illegal in the United States. In this century, there are so many other
options for women who do not have the desire or skills to raise a child. There are thousands of
families throughout the country who would love to adopt a newborn baby. The fact that abortion is
murder, it creates multiple health problems for the mother, and defies the foundation that our
country was built on is argument enough that abortion should be severely restricted if not

"One of the luckiest things that can happen to you in life is, I think, to have a loving mother and
a happy childhood," quoted by Agatha Christie. Every child deserves to be brought up into a
loving, and stable environment with the love and compassion of their mother. This is
unfortunately not always the case, due to abortion procedures not being legalized and or denied,
many mothers seeking an abortion are forced to give birth to a baby that was initially not wanted.
There are several causes as to why mothers seek abortion in the first place, followed by the effects
the child and mother are faced with by bringing up a child that is initially unwanted. In order to
bring a life into the world, the mother must be financially set to properly care for the demands that
a newborn baby has, or else the consequences in not having a stable source of income may hinder a
child's upbringing. There are many reasons why women around the world have an abortion. Most
abortions have to do with the fact that the mother isn't financially stable to bring a baby into the
world. Without enough money, or making a decent source of income to properly care for a newborn
baby, many women follow the alternative, which involves terminating their early pregnancy.
Although the rate of abortion has decreased from 2000–2008, it has increased 18% among poor
women, while decreasing 28% among higher–income women. (Abortion in the United States, 2008).

America has always been a really liberal place to live. This means that people can feel free to
have there own opinions and voice though thoughts and opinions. Though what can come out of
this are many arguments among people. One of the biggest things people are arguing about today
is whether abortions should be legal or not. Over the years abortions have been affecting our
society. Many people believe that abortion kills a baby before it even has a chance to live. It is a
practice that should not only be medically wrong, but morally wrong as well. Bringing new life
into the world is a truly amazing thing that a women can do. Though some people feel that for
whatever the reasons that it is ok for them to abort their baby. This is not the way to go about not

Many people believe that the baby is considered human from the time of conception. Others
believe the baby is considered human when he gets its heartbeat, which is around as early as
three weeks after conception. There are many acts that protect any unborn baby that is not an
abortion. "These laws make it clear that most people find the killing of a fetus to be repugnant
and its life worthy of protection... If it is unacceptable for a stranger to kill a baby why is it
acceptable for a mother and her doctors to do so? ("10 Reasons Abortion should be Illegal" 1).
Abortion is a cruel and unnatural to do to an unborn baby. Around eight weeks old though a
babies nerves and cortex is not fully formed yet, the baby can still shrink away from an unwanted
or painful stimulation. A young doctor named Nathanson who performed abortions change his
ways after performing an abortion and saw an unborn baby overdraft to screens and shy away from
the medical tools when it was only 12 weeks of age("10 Reasons Abortion should be Illegal"

Should Abortion Be Legal?
Throughout history, the right to live life has been one that has been fought for with courage and
passion. Slavery, the right to vote, and even marriage laws have been changed so everyone can
have the chance to live an equal life. However, there is one law that still prohibits some from having
that equal chance: abortion. According to laws.com, "abortion in the United States was made legal
by action of the Supreme Court, although there are some distinctions that vary from jurisdiction to
jurisdiction. The most common distinction is 'life after viability' where states have tried to legislate
the latest point in a pregnancy that a woman may receive an abortion, if there is a chance that the
fetus will be born healthy" (laws.com). Even though the life after viability distinction is a step in
the right direction, it does not change the fact that a woman can choose to terminate her
pregnancy. Those who attempt to curtail the act of abortion by saying that a woman should have
rights to do as she pleases with her body forget that the rights of another human being to live are
being took away. This is only one of the several reasons why abortion should be made illegal in the
United States. Although some may argue it is a woman's right to abort her child, they must consider
that the child has the right to live a long and prosperous life. Those who consider their selves
pro–abortion, better known as "pro–choice" give numerous reasons as to why they believe that

When one hears the word 'abortion' a lot of emotions and mixed feelings come to mind. Abortion
has been and always will be a topic of heated debate. Whether one is 'pro–choice' or 'pro–life' can
depend on many different factors. One's upbringing and religious views play a major role when it
comes to supporting abortion or not. There are many reasons that a woman could be getting an
abortion therefore people should not be quick to judge. If a woman feels like her life or the
child's life will not be suitable for survival, then she should be respected for her decision. A
woman is responsible for her own body and the actions that occur to her own body. Therefore,
abortion should be solely a woman's choice. A person can chose to get an...show more content...
I believe that all the reasons above are just reasons one would get an abortion. If one cannot afford a
child and does not have enough time to give the child enough love and attention, a child should not
be brought into that type of environment in the first place. These reasons should be taken into
consideration when one is judging another about their decision to get an abortion. Another argument
that is brought up a lot is that if a woman makes the decision to participate in sexual intercourse then
she should pay the consequences that could possibly arise from it. Sex is a completely normal act of
nature that no one should be punished by. Although there are many precautions one can take to
avoid problems such as an unexpected pregnancy, accidents happen and no one is ever one
hundred percent protected. Abortion is a last resort for those not prepared or suitable to raise a
child. Certain people may argue that everyone has a 'right to life' but when it comes to determining
what is considered a human it is difficult because there are many factors to ponder. The right to life
concept is one I strongly agree with, however I do not believe that a newly conceived fetus is
considered a human.
"Thus it is clear that that even though a seven– or eight month fetus has features which make it apt
to arouse... Nevertheless it seems safe to say that is not fully conscious, in the way that an infant of a

Abortion Should Be Legal
For many years, people have questioned whether or not abortion should be legal in the United
States. Many people may argue that it should not be, where others may feel differently about the
topic. Most may say abortion is murder, and that no person should have the right to end an
innocent life, but what about the others that have personal reasons? There are people in the
world that may feel they may not be ready for the responsibility, or simply did not consent to the
act that led to the conception. There are various reasons many feel abortion should be legal, many
more why it should not be, if abortion was not legal it would it have an impact on the community
today? Many people have different views on why abortion should be legal. There are some cases,
in which it should be legal, including pregnancies resulting from rape or pregnancies that may harm
the mother's health. Victims of rape may end up pregnant and along with the fact that it was not
consensual and unplanned, they also may not want a reminder of the horrific tragedy they had been
through. According to many arguments and the Rose versus Wade case, Congress put a ban on
federal funds to pay for abortion unless it was to save a woman's life. It was stated in the case that
states could allow abortion during the first trimester and the second trimester to protect the woman's
health and would not allow it during the third trimester in order to protect a human life. Most may
argue that abortion should not be legal,

My Body My Choice
"No one has the right to choose what is wrong". When Abraham Lincoln said this, he was making
a strong point towards people making decision for themselves and not others. It's a strange truth
that no matter how persuaded we might be of our own perfection; the understanding that others
disagree with us causes a failure to argue the case convincingly. If a woman is pregnant, she is
allowed to do what she wants to do with her body. No family member, friend, or doctor will provide
for her baby because it's not his or hers. It is the mother decision to decide if she is ready and
competent to raise a child. Abortion should be legal due to the fact, it reduces crimes, acknowledges
women to have a right, and it prevents...show more content...
The second reason why abortion should be legal is the significance that abortion is a private matter
and, without doubt, a matter of choice of every single woman in the United States. If we violate the
right to chose which is the 14th Amendment, then why do we call the civilization we are living in, a
free constitutional society? The Ninth Amendment states that the "enumeration of certain rights
shall not be constructed to deny or disparage other rights retained by the people" (Linder 2004). This
right authorize the right to women, if they come to an agreement, to obtain an abortion, until the of
the first trimester. Abortions only deals with one's individual subjective life and is not supposed to
have anything to do with the governmental authorization. Many people struggle to force their
opinions on others and critic them for their actions. Not matter what anyone suspect or assumes, the
laws enunciate for themselves. It is a woman's authority to privacy to control her own body of
producing a baby. Another reason why abortion should be legal is because the parent(s) may live in
poverty and/or unable take care of the child. Mothers having too many children mainly promote
much of the poverty found throughout the world. In the article Abortion in the Lives of Women
Struggling Financially presents statistics of the abortion rate among women living below the federal
poverty amount. "Over the last few decades,

Abortion Should Be Legal Around The World
Abortion, the sound of the word can cause an environment to go from cheerful and relaxed to tens
and edgy in seconds. Abortion is one of the major controversial topics of all time. Many consider
abortion to be murder and criminal procedures should be brought forward, they consider it to be
immoral and unethical regardless of the circumstances. They believe the reason why women exist is
to bear and raise children; their body is only a host to the unborn child and should not be tempered
with to enable the reproduction of other generation.

women and what they can do with their own bodies, while those against it "Pro–Lifers or

What are the reasons behind having an abortion? And, does abortion solve their problems? Pregnancy
happens under different circumstances, some which are planned and some are unplanned and are
unexpected, some women are unable to continue with their pregnancy and have no other choice.
Abortion may solve the problem of an unwanted child, but it is not the answer to all unwanted
pregnancies, in fact, many women are against it, many say "that if they are given a choice between
keeping their unborn child and aborting it, 85 per cent will chose to keep the child" (Reachout.com,
2014). Abortion is not a blanket problem and we are unable to foresee every case possible, therefore,
each case must be treated appropriately and according to the circumstances surrounding it, and a
solution that best work with the reasons should be found, rather than sweeping it under the carpet.
Some will say that induced abortion, regardless of the circumstances, should be made illegal, but
they do not know if abortion is made illegal, they would still be performed, by unauthorised,
unqualified practitioners in an unsafe environment. Resource, financial incompetence, legal
restrictions and gender discrimination, forced some young girls and young women around the world
to seek out untrained doctors who use unsafe methods to end the pregnancy, some of the methods
used may include, swallowing bleach, drugs or induce bleeding which often results in fatal
infections. Unsafe abortion

Why Abortion Should Be Legal
Abortion is a touchy subject with a lot of people but it is a very important issue that the world is
facing. There is a lot of history when it comes to abortion, but the first case took place in Georgia
Doe v Bolton in 1973 and that is where is all began on a legal stand point. The most important
thing people need to look at is you can't make this decision based off of your feelings you have to
take a life and effects of both the mother and child's life, that line is crossed and it becomes
personal way too often. I am going to give you facts to why abortion needs to be legal for anyone of
the consensual age. Now from the first abortion cases before this case you were only allowed an
abortion if raped, severe deform, or fatal to mother. Basically...show more content...
Most paces say you cannot have an abortion after 24 to 26 weeks in Texas it is 28 weeks. By then
there is actually a life in there and you may not take a life. I find that rather fair because it gives
the mother and influences around more than enough time to come to an agreement to what
should happen. One thing I do not believe though is that anyone's opinion should matter but the
mothers but that's deeper in every case. If we were to make abortions illegal we have to realize
that women would still have the procedures done, it would be unsafe of course. "The dangerous
practice of unregulated abortions led to a high U.S. maternal mortality rate, Reagan says. In her
book, she cites a study done in 1931 showing illegal procedures are responsible for 14% of
maternal deaths." In "1962, Sherri Finkbine, an Arizona mother of four, travels to Sweden after a
local hospital denies her request for a legal abortion. Finkbine had taken the drug thalidomide,
which researchers linked to birth defects. " To sum it up I am not against abortion because it should
100% be the mothers choice, that is who goes through all the pain and suffering and forms the first
bond with the child so that is the only person who should matter in such critical decisions. Said best
by Seth Millstein "the right to life doesn't mean the right to put someone else life at risk." the mother
and at the most the father should make the decision not the government who doesn't even want to
help you the figure it's every man for themselves. Sounds to me like more hanging people out to

Abortion Should Not Be Illegal Essay
Abortion is widely debated across the world and in 1973 Roe v. Wade would start an issue with
ethical and legal issues. There are multiple cases arguing why it should or shouldn't be lawful to
go through with this procedure. Women should have the right to get an abortion as It is her
rights to decide if they aren't able to be able have a child, the woman shouldn't have to rely on
anyone else, she should be able to make this decision as they have to carry it for 9 months and
endure the physical pain. Abortion should not be illegal because it is justifiable in cases of rape,
or when the woman has mental health or financial issues. In the case of rape, it is unjustifiable to
say that a woman has to carry a baby when she is forced into intercourse with a man who the
woman does not please. For those who say that abortion is so inhumane, why doesn't one simply
look at the act of rape as disgusting as someone would look at abortion. The victim is going
through enough being forced without choice to have a child if she consumes, so why make her
carry the baby for 9 months knowing that the perpetrator has given her this child. I don't think that
the women should have to be mentally viable for this child or have to take care of a child that is
forced upon her own will. Having a child hurts very much, why put a victim of rape through more
pain then she has to endure? Abortion isn't illegal in other countries for more serious issues why
should America make it illegal? Someone with mental

Should Abortions Be Legal?
Should abortions be legal? Abortions have been a big issue since the Roe v Wade case. There have
been a lot of disagreements between the Pro–life supporters and the pro–choice supporters. Pro–life
supporters feel like abortions deter murder, while pro–choice supporters believe that the women
should be able to make their own decisions. I am a part of the pro–life supporters because I feel like
abortions are wrong for several of reasons. Why should women get an abortion if there are other
choices for them to choose from?
There are a lot of other options for women to consider other than having an abortion. The National
Center for health statistics at the centers for disease control and prevention stated, "The
percentage of infants given up in the United States declined from 9 percent of those born before
1973 to 1 percent of those born between 1996 and 2002" (Procon.org). Wendy Koch stated, "As a
result of the lack of women putting their children up for adoption, the number of US infants have
dropped tremendously from 90,000 in 1971 to 18,000 in 2007" (Procon.org). Woman should just
give up their child for adoption if they do not want to keep it. There is no reason for women to kill
an innocent human being if they could just give their baby to someone who cannot have children. I
feel like adoptions would be the better option, because abortions deter murder. Abortions deter
murder. John Dougherty said, "Abortion is murder because life begins at conception." He also said
that

The Four Reasons Of Reasoning With Abortion
The fourth reasoning to disagree with abortion is because it ruins lives. The mother's life is ruined,
first of all, because she will from that point on think about the child she never had because of this
stupid mistake. In some situations, women have an abortion to save their relationship with her
significant other. Men typically don't want children, so if a woman becomes pregnant she has an
abortion to fix the relationship. In most cases though, this doesn't fix these relationships. They
couple ends up splitting and the women is left alone. She lost her baby and her significant other. If
she didn't get an abortion and was honest with her situation, maybe she wouldn't end up alone. This
hardening story brings readers to see that abortion is wrong, it doesn't solve any problems, but
creates new ones. Taking an innocent life away is not the answer to everyone's problems.
The fifth and final reasoning to explain this disagreement of abortion is that since Roe verses Wade
court case, which legalized abortion has taken more than fifty–six million innocent babies that didn't
get the chance to live. These horrific results, show that abortion is wrong. Millions of children were
killed because the mother didn't want to have a child. This means that about roughly millions of
mothers decided to kill their child. They decided to murder a child, and not think about what an
amazing life they could have potentially had, if they continued to full term, and then gave the baby
up for

An important argument of why abortion should be illegal is that it allows man to act against God's
will. 'Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I
sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations'. States the prophet Jeremiah.
Christianity is not the only religion against abortion. Hindu tradition sees no difference in the act of
killing a fetus to killing a human. A person that kills a fetus is one of the greatest sinners. Many
other religions also see abortion as a sin and the acting against the will of God.

I chose the side that abortion should be illegal. The writer of this argument says that the fetus can
feel pain during the abortion procedure. According to Maureen Condic, PhD, Associate Professor
of Neurobiology and Anatomy and Adjunct the spinal reflex is developed by eight weeks. The
spinal reflex is the most primitive responsive to pain. Bernard N. Nathanson, MD, late abortion
doctor who became a pro–life activist states that when an abortion is conducted on a fetus of 12
weeks, they see the child's mouth open in a silent scream. Both, Maureen Condic and Bernard N.
Nathanson state that the fetus can feel the pain during abortion.

Medical emergencies compel woman to abortion in some cases. There is a possibility of the
mother's life being in danger if she carries or delivers the child. Another reason some women
decide to abort is if they are rape victims. A victim should not have to bear a child for an
unfortunate incident. Finally, the author writes that technology can now detect diseases among
unborn babies. Giving birth to a baby that will suffer all day is a reason that one may decide to

Why abortions should be legal
Heres some food for thought: if someone 's sibling was in a car accident and desperately needed a
blood transfusion to live and there was only one person on Earth who could donate blood to save
them (acknowledging the fact that donating blood is a pretty easy and safe procedure.) No one can
force that person to donate blood. Indeed, even to save the life of an adult, it would be illegal to
force someone to donate their blood if they didn 't want to. We have this human right called "bodily
autonomy"(a–toh–nomy). It 's this concept that one 's authority over their own body and it 's
contents is paramount and must not be disobeyed. Doctors cannot remove crucial organs...show more

Then again, that fact is brought up more so than the statistical evidence of the vast majority of
abortions being performed in the first 8 weeks of conception. Late term abortions make up only
about 1.5% of all abortions. Close to every termination procedure performed after 20 weeks is on a
very much wanted pregnancy. At 23 weeks chances are if a fetus is being aborted it 's because it 's
already dead, suffering abnormalities (i.e. brain not developed or serious terminal genetic condition),
actively dying, or was actively killing the mother.
The next argument is that fetuses can feel pain in the first trimester. No they can not. Their pain
receptors don 't work unless their neocortex is developed, which does not start forming until the third
trimester. The fetus is dependent on the mother 's health, placenta, and umbilical cord which
ultimately means it is not a dependent sentient human. Fetuses don 't even become conscious until
birth in most cases. Therefore that statement is false.
Fun fact: people believed that every abortion is the same no matter what the circumstance and that
you are killing someone before "God intended". Losing a baby during the second trimester is almost
never intended. Now since pro–lifers believed having to terminate a pregnancy due to medical
conditions was not a good enough reason. The procedure to remove the fetus is to basically pull out
little pieces of it 's body at a time.

termination of a human pregnancy. Usually abortions are performed within the first twenty–eight of

If women had their baby instead of aborting it, they could give the child to someone who wants it

physically. Imagine a world where people were not selfish and incredibly ignorant about everything

place where people committed to something they went through on. That world would be a place
without abortion. Mother Teresa was a Roman Catholic religious sister and missionary once said.

Why We Should Be Able To Legalize Abortion Essay
Abortion has been a controversial topic for many years now. Abortion is the removal of a fetus or
embryo from the uterus. The reason behind this controversy is whether or not removing the fetus is
murder. Countless women make the choice of abortion in the result of not being stable enough to
care for a child or simply don't want it. Abortion should be legal considering not every woman has
the money to support a child and the mental health to raise one either, and in the case of rape or
incest, the victim should have a choice of whether or not have a child they did not ask for. Young
woman who are around the ages 18 or younger account for about five million abortions a year.
Most of the teenage girls who choose to make the decision of abortion are financially not ready to
care for a child. Which they are right about because nearly all girls who become pregnant in high
school are less likely to graduate. Journalist Lowen agrees when she writes "Teen mothers are
significantly less likely to complete high school than their peers" (Lowen). This results to not
earning your high school diploma. Students who drop out of high are also less likely to be hired for
good paying jobs. Which means majority of teenagers quitting school because of...show more

idea that single parenting is one of the top reasons young woman have an abortion. Having a child

Bringing unwanted children into this world, with the means of improper care and love is
restraining the pursuit of happiness in these children. If us as humans don't have the ability to
give a child a healthy life; then the point to bring them into this world is not useful and causes
lots more problems that should have never erupted in the first place. Should an individual have the
obligation to go through a nine month pregnancy, or go through childbirth, or the mental stress of
raising or giving away the child? The individual rights a women has are not only for herself, but
the child relying on her to live. One of the woman's most basic freedoms is the right to control her
own body and to determine if she bears a child. Only she can determine whether she is emotional,
physical, and economic ready at any given time to have and raise a child.(Chicago Women's

children are born and raised by parents who wants them and that young teens have a chance to

Around the world about 26–53 million induced abortions occur every year (Ikeanyi). Through legal
means in countries that allow abortions or through illegal means in countries where abortions are not
allowed, women everywhere are finding ways to terminate their pregnancy. Although the question of
whether abortions should be legal or not is a very complicated questions, there are clear and definite
reasons as to why it should be legal. Women should have the choice to end their pregnancy because
sometimes the baby can be born with birth defects, because women would just find a way to have the

are able to solve the problem of knowing if a child will be born with a birth defect or a fetal

still provides a problem for the family as they have to choose whether to keep or end the
pregnancy. Although, "termination of pregnancy when abnormalities are present is unlike any
other form of loss and it is a relatively rare event," it has nonetheless happened and has demanded
families to make a difficult but necessary choice (Coleman) The choice to end a pregnancy is not
an easy act and can have serious detrimental effects on the mother afterward. For example, when a
mother is told "they are carrying a child with Down syndrome, 92% choose abortion," because they
believe it is the best for the

Reasons Why Abortion Should Be Legal Essay

  • 1. Why We Should Legalize Abortion Abortion was legalized in 1973 by the U.S. Supreme Court case called Roe vs. Wade. Now, there are approximately 125,000 abortions per day worldwide, and 3,000 per day in the United States. These statistics would not be an issue if abortion was illegal once again. Women these days are using abortion as an excuse, or as a form of birth control. Abortion is murder, and defies the laws that America was originally built on. Abortion is also unhealthy and can lead to major health problems with the mother. The abortion procedure should not be legal in the United States. Abortion is murder, and the fetus can feel the procedure. According to the federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act, unborn babies are considered human beings, and this act protects...show more content... Women who get abortions are more at risk for anxiety and depression disorders. Out of more than 172,000 American women who aborted, they were 154% more likely to commit suicide. In 1996, a study was published in the British Medical Journal stating that the "mean annual suicide rate amongst women who had an abortion was 34.7 per 100,000, compared with a mean rate of 11.3 per 100,000 in the general population of women." These statistics are significant because they show that abortion is taking away more than just the baby's life. Fifteen percent of first trimester miscarriages are due to a prior history of abortions. So if a women has had an abortion in the past, they may not be able to have a child of their own in the future. Lastly, women who have aborted are more likely to have breast cancer, while breastfeeding actually decreases the risk, so having a child can actually be beneficial for the mother. The risk for breast cancer increases as the number of abortions increase. Abortion is unhealthy for the mother and can cause phycological damage. In conclusion, abortion needs to be illegal in the United States. In this century, there are so many other options for women who do not have the desire or skills to raise a child. There are thousands of families throughout the country who would love to adopt a newborn baby. The fact that abortion is murder, it creates multiple health problems for the mother, and defies the foundation that our country was built on is argument enough that abortion should be severely restricted if not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Should Abortion Be Legal? "One of the luckiest things that can happen to you in life is, I think, to have a loving mother and a happy childhood," quoted by Agatha Christie. Every child deserves to be brought up into a loving, and stable environment with the love and compassion of their mother. This is unfortunately not always the case, due to abortion procedures not being legalized and or denied, many mothers seeking an abortion are forced to give birth to a baby that was initially not wanted. There are several causes as to why mothers seek abortion in the first place, followed by the effects the child and mother are faced with by bringing up a child that is initially unwanted. In order to bring a life into the world, the mother must be financially set to properly care for the demands that a newborn baby has, or else the consequences in not having a stable source of income may hinder a child's upbringing. There are many reasons why women around the world have an abortion. Most abortions have to do with the fact that the mother isn't financially stable to bring a baby into the world. Without enough money, or making a decent source of income to properly care for a newborn baby, many women follow the alternative, which involves terminating their early pregnancy. Although the rate of abortion has decreased from 2000–2008, it has increased 18% among poor women, while decreasing 28% among higher–income women. (Abortion in the United States, 2008). Many young women and men are sexually active in this day Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Why We Shouldn T Abortion Be Legal Essay America has always been a really liberal place to live. This means that people can feel free to have there own opinions and voice though thoughts and opinions. Though what can come out of this are many arguments among people. One of the biggest things people are arguing about today is whether abortions should be legal or not. Over the years abortions have been affecting our society. Many people believe that abortion kills a baby before it even has a chance to live. It is a practice that should not only be medically wrong, but morally wrong as well. Bringing new life into the world is a truly amazing thing that a women can do. Though some people feel that for whatever the reasons that it is ok for them to abort their baby. This is not the way to go about not wanting to raise a child. Have an abortion is something that we should not...show more content... Many people believe that the baby is considered human from the time of conception. Others believe the baby is considered human when he gets its heartbeat, which is around as early as three weeks after conception. There are many acts that protect any unborn baby that is not an abortion. "These laws make it clear that most people find the killing of a fetus to be repugnant and its life worthy of protection... If it is unacceptable for a stranger to kill a baby why is it acceptable for a mother and her doctors to do so? ("10 Reasons Abortion should be Illegal" 1). Abortion is a cruel and unnatural to do to an unborn baby. Around eight weeks old though a babies nerves and cortex is not fully formed yet, the baby can still shrink away from an unwanted or painful stimulation. A young doctor named Nathanson who performed abortions change his ways after performing an abortion and saw an unborn baby overdraft to screens and shy away from the medical tools when it was only 12 weeks of age("10 Reasons Abortion should be Illegal" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Should Abortion Be Legal? Throughout history, the right to live life has been one that has been fought for with courage and passion. Slavery, the right to vote, and even marriage laws have been changed so everyone can have the chance to live an equal life. However, there is one law that still prohibits some from having that equal chance: abortion. According to laws.com, "abortion in the United States was made legal by action of the Supreme Court, although there are some distinctions that vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The most common distinction is 'life after viability' where states have tried to legislate the latest point in a pregnancy that a woman may receive an abortion, if there is a chance that the fetus will be born healthy" (laws.com). Even though the life after viability distinction is a step in the right direction, it does not change the fact that a woman can choose to terminate her pregnancy. Those who attempt to curtail the act of abortion by saying that a woman should have rights to do as she pleases with her body forget that the rights of another human being to live are being took away. This is only one of the several reasons why abortion should be made illegal in the United States. Although some may argue it is a woman's right to abort her child, they must consider that the child has the right to live a long and prosperous life. Those who consider their selves pro–abortion, better known as "pro–choice" give numerous reasons as to why they believe that abortion should stay Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Should Abortion Be Legal? When one hears the word 'abortion' a lot of emotions and mixed feelings come to mind. Abortion has been and always will be a topic of heated debate. Whether one is 'pro–choice' or 'pro–life' can depend on many different factors. One's upbringing and religious views play a major role when it comes to supporting abortion or not. There are many reasons that a woman could be getting an abortion therefore people should not be quick to judge. If a woman feels like her life or the child's life will not be suitable for survival, then she should be respected for her decision. A woman is responsible for her own body and the actions that occur to her own body. Therefore, abortion should be solely a woman's choice. A person can chose to get an...show more content... I believe that all the reasons above are just reasons one would get an abortion. If one cannot afford a child and does not have enough time to give the child enough love and attention, a child should not be brought into that type of environment in the first place. These reasons should be taken into consideration when one is judging another about their decision to get an abortion. Another argument that is brought up a lot is that if a woman makes the decision to participate in sexual intercourse then she should pay the consequences that could possibly arise from it. Sex is a completely normal act of nature that no one should be punished by. Although there are many precautions one can take to avoid problems such as an unexpected pregnancy, accidents happen and no one is ever one hundred percent protected. Abortion is a last resort for those not prepared or suitable to raise a child. Certain people may argue that everyone has a 'right to life' but when it comes to determining what is considered a human it is difficult because there are many factors to ponder. The right to life concept is one I strongly agree with, however I do not believe that a newly conceived fetus is considered a human. "Thus it is clear that that even though a seven– or eight month fetus has features which make it apt to arouse... Nevertheless it seems safe to say that is not fully conscious, in the way that an infant of a few months is, and that it can not reason, or communicate... does not engage in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Abortion Should Be Legal For many years, people have questioned whether or not abortion should be legal in the United States. Many people may argue that it should not be, where others may feel differently about the topic. Most may say abortion is murder, and that no person should have the right to end an innocent life, but what about the others that have personal reasons? There are people in the world that may feel they may not be ready for the responsibility, or simply did not consent to the act that led to the conception. There are various reasons many feel abortion should be legal, many more why it should not be, if abortion was not legal it would it have an impact on the community today? Many people have different views on why abortion should be legal. There are some cases, in which it should be legal, including pregnancies resulting from rape or pregnancies that may harm the mother's health. Victims of rape may end up pregnant and along with the fact that it was not consensual and unplanned, they also may not want a reminder of the horrific tragedy they had been through. According to many arguments and the Rose versus Wade case, Congress put a ban on federal funds to pay for abortion unless it was to save a woman's life. It was stated in the case that states could allow abortion during the first trimester and the second trimester to protect the woman's health and would not allow it during the third trimester in order to protect a human life. Most may argue that abortion should not be legal, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Should Abortion Be Legal? My Body My Choice "No one has the right to choose what is wrong". When Abraham Lincoln said this, he was making a strong point towards people making decision for themselves and not others. It's a strange truth that no matter how persuaded we might be of our own perfection; the understanding that others disagree with us causes a failure to argue the case convincingly. If a woman is pregnant, she is allowed to do what she wants to do with her body. No family member, friend, or doctor will provide for her baby because it's not his or hers. It is the mother decision to decide if she is ready and competent to raise a child. Abortion should be legal due to the fact, it reduces crimes, acknowledges women to have a right, and it prevents...show more content... The second reason why abortion should be legal is the significance that abortion is a private matter and, without doubt, a matter of choice of every single woman in the United States. If we violate the right to chose which is the 14th Amendment, then why do we call the civilization we are living in, a free constitutional society? The Ninth Amendment states that the "enumeration of certain rights shall not be constructed to deny or disparage other rights retained by the people" (Linder 2004). This right authorize the right to women, if they come to an agreement, to obtain an abortion, until the of the first trimester. Abortions only deals with one's individual subjective life and is not supposed to have anything to do with the governmental authorization. Many people struggle to force their opinions on others and critic them for their actions. Not matter what anyone suspect or assumes, the laws enunciate for themselves. It is a woman's authority to privacy to control her own body of producing a baby. Another reason why abortion should be legal is because the parent(s) may live in poverty and/or unable take care of the child. Mothers having too many children mainly promote much of the poverty found throughout the world. In the article Abortion in the Lives of Women Struggling Financially presents statistics of the abortion rate among women living below the federal poverty amount. • 8. Abortion Should Be Legal Around The World Abortion, the sound of the word can cause an environment to go from cheerful and relaxed to tens and edgy in seconds. Abortion is one of the major controversial topics of all time. Many consider abortion to be murder and criminal procedures should be brought forward, they consider it to be immoral and unethical regardless of the circumstances. They believe the reason why women exist is to bear and raise children; their body is only a host to the unborn child and should not be tempered with to enable the reproduction of other generation. "Pro–Choice or for–Abortion" activists believe in women's rights, they want to protect the rights of women and what they can do with their own bodies, while those against it "Pro–Lifers or Anti–Abortion"...show more content... What are the reasons behind having an abortion? And, does abortion solve their problems? Pregnancy happens under different circumstances, some which are planned and some are unplanned and are unexpected, some women are unable to continue with their pregnancy and have no other choice. Abortion may solve the problem of an unwanted child, but it is not the answer to all unwanted pregnancies, in fact, many women are against it, many say "that if they are given a choice between keeping their unborn child and aborting it, 85 per cent will chose to keep the child" (Reachout.com, 2014). Abortion is not a blanket problem and we are unable to foresee every case possible, therefore, each case must be treated appropriately and according to the circumstances surrounding it, and a solution that best work with the reasons should be found, rather than sweeping it under the carpet. Some will say that induced abortion, regardless of the circumstances, should be made illegal, but they do not know if abortion is made illegal, they would still be performed, by unauthorised, unqualified practitioners in an unsafe environment. Resource, financial incompetence, legal restrictions and gender discrimination, forced some young girls and young women around the world to seek out untrained doctors who use unsafe methods to end the pregnancy, some of the methods used may include, swallowing bleach, drugs or induce bleeding which often results in fatal infections. • 9. Why Abortion Should Be Legal Abortion is a touchy subject with a lot of people but it is a very important issue that the world is facing. There is a lot of history when it comes to abortion, but the first case took place in Georgia Doe v Bolton in 1973 and that is where is all began on a legal stand point. The most important thing people need to look at is you can't make this decision based off of your feelings you have to take a life and effects of both the mother and child's life, that line is crossed and it becomes personal way too often. I am going to give you facts to why abortion needs to be legal for anyone of the consensual age. Now from the first abortion cases before this case you were only allowed an abortion if raped, severe deform, or fatal to mother. Basically...show more content... Most paces say you cannot have an abortion after 24 to 26 weeks in Texas it is 28 weeks. By then there is actually a life in there and you may not take a life. I find that rather fair because it gives the mother and influences around more than enough time to come to an agreement to what should happen. One thing I do not believe though is that anyone's opinion should matter but the mothers but that's deeper in every case. If we were to make abortions illegal we have to realize that women would still have the procedures done, it would be unsafe of course. "The dangerous practice of unregulated abortions led to a high U.S. maternal mortality rate, Reagan says. In her book, she cites a study done in 1931 showing illegal procedures are responsible for 14% of maternal deaths." In "1962, Sherri Finkbine, an Arizona mother of four, travels to Sweden after a local hospital denies her request for a legal abortion. Finkbine had taken the drug thalidomide, which researchers linked to birth defects. " To sum it up I am not against abortion because it should 100% be the mothers choice, that is who goes through all the pain and suffering and forms the first bond with the child so that is the only person who should matter in such critical decisions. Said best by Seth Millstein "the right to life doesn't mean the right to put someone else life at risk." the mother and at the most the father should make the decision not the government who doesn't even want to help you the figure it's every man for themselves. Sounds to me like more hanging people out to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Abortion Should Not Be Illegal Essay Abortion is widely debated across the world and in 1973 Roe v. Wade would start an issue with ethical and legal issues. There are multiple cases arguing why it should or shouldn't be lawful to go through with this procedure. Women should have the right to get an abortion as It is her rights to decide if they aren't able to be able have a child, the woman shouldn't have to rely on anyone else, she should be able to make this decision as they have to carry it for 9 months and endure the physical pain. Abortion should not be illegal because it is justifiable in cases of rape, or when the woman has mental health or financial issues. In the case of rape, it is unjustifiable to say that a woman has to carry a baby when she is forced into intercourse with a man who the woman does not please. For those who say that abortion is so inhumane, why doesn't one simply look at the act of rape as disgusting as someone would look at abortion. The victim is going through enough being forced without choice to have a child if she consumes, so why make her carry the baby for 9 months knowing that the perpetrator has given her this child. I don't think that the women should have to be mentally viable for this child or have to take care of a child that is forced upon her own will. Having a child hurts very much, why put a victim of rape through more pain then she has to endure? Abortion isn't illegal in other countries for more serious issues why should America make it illegal? Someone with mental Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Many people are against the legalization and many other are with the legalization, many believe that it should stay legal because they believe women should have control over their bodies and they know what is best for their life. • 12. Should Abortions Be Legal? Should abortions be legal? Abortions have been a big issue since the Roe v Wade case. There have been a lot of disagreements between the Pro–life supporters and the pro–choice supporters. Pro–life supporters feel like abortions deter murder, while pro–choice supporters believe that the women should be able to make their own decisions. I am a part of the pro–life supporters because I feel like abortions are wrong for several of reasons. Why should women get an abortion if there are other choices for them to choose from? There are a lot of other options for women to consider other than having an abortion. The National Center for health statistics at the centers for disease control and prevention stated, "The percentage of infants given up in the United States declined from 9 percent of those born before 1973 to 1 percent of those born between 1996 and 2002" (Procon.org). Wendy Koch stated, "As a result of the lack of women putting their children up for adoption, the number of US infants have dropped tremendously from 90,000 in 1971 to 18,000 in 2007" (Procon.org). Woman should just give up their child for adoption if they do not want to keep it. There is no reason for women to kill an innocent human being if they could just give their baby to someone who cannot have children. • 13. The Four Reasons Of Reasoning With Abortion The fourth reasoning to disagree with abortion is because it ruins lives. The mother's life is ruined, first of all, because she will from that point on think about the child she never had because of this stupid mistake. In some situations, women have an abortion to save their relationship with her significant other. Men typically don't want children, so if a woman becomes pregnant she has an abortion to fix the relationship. In most cases though, this doesn't fix these relationships. They couple ends up splitting and the women is left alone. She lost her baby and her significant other. If she didn't get an abortion and was honest with her situation, maybe she wouldn't end up alone. This hardening story brings readers to see that abortion is wrong, it doesn't solve any problems, but creates new ones. Taking an innocent life away is not the answer to everyone's problems. The fifth and final reasoning to explain this disagreement of abortion is that since Roe verses Wade court case, which legalized abortion has taken more than fifty–six million innocent babies that didn't get the chance to live. These horrific results, show that abortion is wrong. Millions of children were killed because the mother didn't want to have a child. This means that about roughly millions of mothers decided to kill their child. They decided to murder a child, and not think about what an amazing life they could have potentially had, if they continued to full term, and then gave the baby up for Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Christianity is not the only religion against abortion. Hindu tradition sees no difference in the act of killing a fetus to killing a human. A person that kills a fetus is one of the greatest sinners. Many other religions also see abortion as a sin and the acting against the will of God. Brown. (2016). 3...show more content... I chose the side that abortion should be illegal. The writer of this argument says that the fetus can feel pain during the abortion procedure. According to Maureen Condic, PhD, Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy and Adjunct the spinal reflex is developed by eight weeks. The spinal reflex is the most primitive responsive to pain. Bernard N. Nathanson, MD, late abortion doctor who became a pro–life activist states that when an abortion is conducted on a fetus of 12 weeks, they see the child's mouth open in a silent scream. Both, Maureen Condic and Bernard N. Nathanson state that the fetus can feel the pain during abortion. (n.d.). Pros and Cons of Abortion. There is a possibility of the mother's life being in danger if she carries or delivers the child. Another reason some women decide to abort is if they are rape victims. A victim should not have to bear a child for an unfortunate incident. Finally, the author writes that technology can now detect diseases among unborn babies. • 15. Why Abortion Should Be Legal Research Paper Why abortions should be legal Heres some food for thought: if someone 's sibling was in a car accident and desperately needed a blood transfusion to live and there was only one person on Earth who could donate blood to save them (acknowledging the fact that donating blood is a pretty easy and safe procedure.) No one can force that person to donate blood. Indeed, even to save the life of an adult, it would be illegal to force someone to donate their blood if they didn 't want to. We have this human right called "bodily autonomy"(a–toh–nomy). It 's this concept that one 's authority over their own body and it 's contents is paramount and must not be disobeyed. Doctors cannot remove crucial organs...show more content... Then again, that fact is brought up more so than the statistical evidence of the vast majority of abortions being performed in the first 8 weeks of conception. Late term abortions make up only about 1.5% of all abortions. Close to every termination procedure performed after 20 weeks is on a very much wanted pregnancy. At 23 weeks chances are if a fetus is being aborted it 's because it 's already dead, suffering abnormalities (i.e. brain not developed or serious terminal genetic condition), actively dying, or was actively killing the mother. The next argument is that fetuses can feel pain in the first trimester. No they can not. Their pain receptors don 't work unless their neocortex is developed, which does not start forming until the third trimester. The fetus is dependent on the mother 's health, placenta, and umbilical cord which ultimately means it is not a dependent sentient human. Fetuses don 't even become conscious until birth in most cases. Therefore that statement is false. Fun fact: people believed that every abortion is the same no matter what the circumstance and that you are killing someone before "God intended". Losing a baby during the second trimester is almost never intended. Now since pro–lifers believed having to terminate a pregnancy due to medical conditions was not a good enough reason. The procedure to remove the fetus is to basically pull out little pieces of it 's body at a time. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Why Should Abortion Be Legal Abortion Around one million one hundred thousand abortions happen each year in the U.S; in fact, around twenty–five percent of pregnancies end in abortion. Nearly fifty percent of women who have had an abortion often have had multiple ones (Should Abortion Be Legal?). Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. Usually abortions are performed within the first twenty–eight of being pregnant. Abortion should be illegal because abortion is murder and it harms the women getting aborted. The first reason why abortion should be illegal is because when an abortion takes place, murdering a human being is happening. Since Roe vs. Wade was made legal in nineteen seventy three, around fifty–three million abortions have been performed...show more content... • 18. Why We Should Be Able To Legalize Abortion Essay Abortion has been a controversial topic for many years now. Abortion is the removal of a fetus or embryo from the uterus. The reason behind this controversy is whether or not removing the fetus is murder. Countless women make the choice of abortion in the result of not being stable enough to care for a child or simply don't want it. Abortion should be legal considering not every woman has the money to support a child and the mental health to raise one either, and in the case of rape or incest, the victim should have a choice of whether or not have a child they did not ask for. Young woman who are around the ages 18 or younger account for about five million abortions a year. Most of the teenage girls who choose to make the decision of abortion are financially not ready to care for a child. Which they are right about because nearly all girls who become pregnant in high school are less likely to graduate. Journalist Lowen agrees when she writes "Teen mothers are significantly less likely to complete high school than their peers" (Lowen). This results to not earning your high school diploma. Students who drop out of high are also less likely to be hired for good paying jobs. Which means majority of teenagers quitting school because of...show more content... • 19. Abortion Should Be Legal Essay Through every choice in life, there is a decision that must follow. Abortion is a woman's individual choice; therefore, must be a legal part in todays society. Individual rights have an outstanding role in the controversial topic, on whether abortion should become legal in the United States . The individual rights for abortion show rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. As well, women should be able to have the choice to choose to have an abortion for several important reasons. The right to make these decisions should lie in the hands of the "mother" to make decisions concerning their own to make decisions concerning their own bodies. In addition, women should be given the choice to have an abortion if they are too young...show more content... Bringing unwanted children into this world, with the means of improper care and love is restraining the pursuit of happiness in these children. If us as humans don't have the ability to give a child a healthy life; then the point to bring them into this world is not useful and causes lots more problems that should have never erupted in the first place. Should an individual have the obligation to go through a nine month pregnancy, or go through childbirth, or the mental stress of raising or giving away the child? The individual rights a women has are not only for herself, but the child relying on her to live. One of the woman's most basic freedoms is the right to control her own body and to determine if she bears a child. Only she can determine whether she is emotional, physical, and economic ready at any given time to have and raise a child.(Chicago Women's Liberation Union) While the common good for abortion is in a recent study, US Supreme Court found that women have better mental health when they have abortion as an option. It also means children are born and raised by parents who wants them and that young teens have a chance to educate themselves and become parents when they are ready. People often think an abortion is a terrible thing, a choice for those irresponsible teenagers that get pregnant while lots of more stressful arguments go into abortion. • 20. Should Abortions Be Legal? Around the world about 26–53 million induced abortions occur every year (Ikeanyi). Through legal means in countries that allow abortions or through illegal means in countries where abortions are not allowed, women everywhere are finding ways to terminate their pregnancy. Although the question of whether abortions should be legal or not is a very complicated questions, there are clear and definite reasons as to why it should be legal. Women should have the choice to end their pregnancy because sometimes the baby can be born with birth defects, because women would just find a way to have the abortion illegally, and because it is the choice of the women. First, with today's technology doctors are able to solve the problem of knowing if a child will be born with a birth defect or a fetal anomaly. However, even with the technology to tell if the child will be born with a defect, this still provides a problem for the family as they have to choose whether to keep or end the pregnancy. Although, "termination of pregnancy when abnormalities are present is unlike any other form of loss and it is a relatively rare event," it has nonetheless happened and has demanded families to make a difficult but necessary choice (Coleman) The choice to end a pregnancy is not an easy act and can have serious detrimental effects on the mother afterward. For example, when a mother is told "they are carrying a child with Down syndrome, 92% choose abortion," because they believe it is the best for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
