This document discusses moving away from a singular, unified view of archaeology towards a more multifaceted view consisting of diverse approaches that are interconnected. It proposes adopting a "disunity of science thesis" and "trading zone" framework where archaeology consists of various context-specific approaches that investigate the same phenomena using different methods. These approaches contribute new knowledge to our understanding of material history without needing unification. This represents a shift from past dominant paradigms in archaeology to a more flexible, bottom-up view where different approaches provide multiple perspectives on the past rather than one dominant way.
