Amos 4:2-13 prepare to meet your God, O Israel. It is very important to prepare to meet God. Some will think they are prepare and are not. How do we prepare to meet our God?
2. (Amos 4:2-13) The Lord GOD has sworn by His
holiness: "Behold, the days shall come upon you
When He will take you away with fishhooks, And
your posterity with fishhooks. {3} You will go out
through broken walls, Each one straight ahead of
her, And you will be cast into Harmon," Says the
LORD. {4} "Come to Bethel and transgress, At Gilgal
multiply transgression; Bring your sacrifices every
morning, Your tithes every three days. {5} Offer a
sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, Proclaim and
announce the freewill offerings; For this you love,
You children of Israel!" Says the Lord GOD. {6} "Also
I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities. And
lack of bread in all your places; Yet you have not
returned to Me," Says the LORD. >>>
3. {7} "I also withheld rain from you, When there were
still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on
one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part
was rained upon, And where it did not rain the part
withered. {8} So two or three cities wandered to
another city to drink water, But they were not
satisfied; Yet you have not returned to Me," Says
the LORD. {9} "I blasted you with blight and
mildew. When your gardens increased, Your
vineyards, Your fig trees, And your olive trees, The
locust devoured them; Yet you have not returned to
Me," Says the LORD. {10} "I sent among you a
plague after the manner of Egypt; Your young men
I killed with a sword, Along with your captive
horses; I made the stench of your camps come up
into your nostrils; Yet you have not returned to
Me," Says the LORD. >>>
4. {11} "I overthrew some of you, As God
overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, And you
were like a firebrand plucked from the
burning; Yet you have not returned to Me,"
Says the LORD. {12} "Therefore thus will I do
to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you,
Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!" {13} For
behold, He who forms mountains, And
creates the wind, Who declares to man what
his thought is, And makes the morning
darkness, Who treads the high places of the
earth; The LORD God of hosts is His name.
5. BE PREPARED!
A. EVERYONE WANTS TO BE PREPARED
FOR IMPORTANT EVENTS
1. COMPANY
2. TESTS
3. WEDDINGS
4. JOB INTERVIEW
B. JUDGMENT IS ONE EVENT THAT WE
WILL ALL ATTEND (Heb 9:27) And as it is
appointed for men to die once, but after
this the judgment,
6. BE PREPARED!
1. (James 4:13-15) Come now, you who say,
"Today or tomorrow we will go to such and
such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell,
and make a profit"; {14} whereas you do not
know what will happen tomorrow. For what is
your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a
little time and then vanishes away. {15}
Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we
shall live and do this or that."
2. MY SISTER-IN-LAW'S DEATH AT 51
C. OF ALL THE EVENTS OF LIFE THIS IS THE
MOST IMPORTANT FOR WHICH TO BE
PREPARED.
7. I. THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS
PREPARATION
A. WE ARE MEETING "GOD" THE "CREATOR”
B. IT WILL SETTLE OUR DESTINY FOR
ETERNITY - (Rev 20:12) And I saw the dead,
small and great, standing before God, and
books were opened. And another book was
opened, which is the Book of Life. And the
dead were judged according to their works,
by the things which were written in the
books.
C. THERE IS NO SECOND CHANCE AFTER
DEATH - (Heb 9:27) And as it is appointed for
men to die once, but after this the judgment,
8. II. SOME THINK THEY ARE
PREPARED AND ARE NOT
A. (Mat 25:1-13) "Then the kingdom of heaven
shall be likened to ten virgins who took their
lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. {2}
"Now five of them were wise, and five were
foolish. {3} "Those who were foolish took their
lamps and took no oil with them, {4} "but the
wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
{5} "But while the bridegroom was delayed, they
all slumbered and slept. {6} "And at midnight a
cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is
coming; go out to meet him!' {7} "Then all those
virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. {8} "And
the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of
your oil, for our lamps are going out.' >>>
9. II. SOME THINK THEY ARE
PREPARED AND ARE NOT
{9} "But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there
should not be enough for us and you; but go
rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
{10} "And while they went to buy, the bridegroom
came, and those who were ready went in with him
to the wedding; and the door was shut. {11}
"Afterward the other virgins came also, saying,
'Lord, Lord, open to us!' {12} "But he answered
and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know
you.' {13} "Watch therefore, for you know neither
the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is
coming. called, but few are chosen.”
10. II. SOME THINK THEY ARE
PREPARED AND ARE NOT
B. (Mat 7:21-27) "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord,
Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who
does the will of My Father in heaven. {22} "Many will say
to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done
many wonders in Your name?' {23} "And then I will
declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you
who practice lawlessness!' {24} "Therefore whoever
hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken
him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: {25}
"and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds
blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was
founded on the rock. {26} "But everyone who hears these
sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a
foolish man who built his house on the sand: {27} "and
the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew
and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
11. II. SOME THINK THEY ARE
PREPARED AND ARE NOT
C. (Mat 22:8-14) } "Then he said to his servants, 'The
wedding is ready, but those who were invited were
not worthy. {9} 'Therefore go into the highways, and
as many as you find, invite to the wedding.' {10} "So
those servants went out into the highways and
gathered together all whom they found, both bad
and good. And the wedding hall was filled with
guests. {11} "But when the king came in to see the
guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a
wedding garment. {12} "So he said to him, 'Friend,
how did you come in here without a wedding
garment?' And he was speechless. {13} "Then the
king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot,
take him away, and cast him into outer darkness;
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' {14}
"For many are called, but few are chosen.”
12. III. HOW TO PREPARE TO MEET GOD
A. OBEY THE LORD - (Heb 5:8-9) though He
was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the
things which He suffered. {9} And having
been perfected, He became the author of
eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
B. OBEY THE FORM OF DOCTRINE - (Rom 6:17-
18) But God be thanked that though you
were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the
heart that form of doctrine to which you were
delivered. {18} And having been set free from
sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
13. III. HOW TO PREPARE TO MEET GOD
1. FAITH - (Heb 11:6) But without faith it is impossible to
please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that
He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently
seek Him.
2. REPENTANCE - (Luke 13:3) “I tell you, no; but unless
you repent you will all likewise perish.
3. CONFESSION - (Rom 10:10) For with the heart one
believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.
4. BAPTISM - (Mark 16:16) “He who believes and is
baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will
be condemned.
5. FAITHFULNESS - (Rev 2:10) “Do not fear any of those
things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is
about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be
tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful
until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
14. WHAT ABOUT YOU?
A. ARE YOUR PREPARED TO MEET YOUR
GOD?
B. YOUR TIME WILL COME! SOONER OR
LATER!
C. (2 Cor 6:2) For He says: "In an acceptable
time I have heard you, And in the day of
salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is
the accepted time; behold, now is the day of
salvation.
D. DO YOU THINK YOU'RE PREPARE BUT ARE
NOT REALLY - (2 Cor 6:1) We then, as
workers together with Him also plead with
you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
