The document discusses idea generation and thinking outside the box. It provides tips for how to think outside the box such as daydreaming, considering worst case scenarios, changing routines, learning new things, and listening to others. It also discusses creating a safe environment where people feel comfortable sharing even unusual ideas to spur creative thinking. Tools like mind mapping, crazy eights, round robin, and reverse brainstorming can help groups generate novel ideas. The overall message is that thinking outside conventional boundaries can lead to special and impactful ideas.
3. IDEA GENERATION
Idea generation can be exciting,
inspiring and fun; but it can also be
uncomfortable, awkward and
confusing. It’s rarely as simple as
getting a group together and asking
them “How do you think we should
go about this?” - and it doesn’t have
to be as boring as that, either.
4. Are most ideas good or bad?
The answer is both. Most ideas won’t necessarily
work, but every single one could spark off the
thought that inspires your next big breakthrough.
To make sure you really wring every last idea
(hare-brained or otherwise) out of your
participants, you must create a safe environment
where egos are left at the door. Remind
everyone: there’s no such thing as a silly idea. If
you create the right team, and develop a safe
environment - there’s no limit to the things you
can achieve.

• Unconventionally
• From a new perspective

HOW YOU CAN THINK OUT
OF THE BOX ?
• Day Dream:It will help you to make connections and recall information.
• Consider the worst case scenario. Fear is what holds back creativity. When you
consider the worst case scenario not only can you plan for it, but you can also
convince yourself that the worst case scenario isn't bad enough.
• Change Up Your Routine: Get outside your comfort zone. Doing new things,
especially things you haven't planned yet.
• Learn New Things: The more you broaden your horizons the more connections
your brain is going to be able to make.
• Learn To Listen: One way to encourage creative thinking is to stay quiet and
listen to what other people are saying
10. " To be or not to be."
You have a choice. You can be one of the
already too many who always knows the
answer, but doesn't know the question, or you
can belong to the group that thinks out of the
box. Remember, it does not take special
people to think out of the box, but rather,
thinking out of the box makes people special.

14. Tools to Help !
• Mind Mapping
Start off with a Mind Map to get your team thinking creatively. You start with
one idea and individually develop maps of interconnected thoughts and new
pathways.
• Crazy Eights
Eight crazy ideas in eight minutes! Sometimes, to be truly creative, our brains
need structure and rules. By restricting space and time, but letting everyone
know that anything goes - this tactic forces ideas out, fast. It’s far less painful
than it sounds.
• Round Robin
Use Round Robin to help you develop partially formed ideas into something a
little more polished. An added bonus of this approach is that you end up with
a different evolution of the original idea for every member of the workshop,
which can lead to some very interesting discussions, and plenty of material
for further development.
15. Tools to Help !
• Reverse Brainstrom
This tactic allows you to come up with solutions to the worst, most despicable things
that could derail your project. This exercise leads to absurd suggestions, which can give
you ground-breaking solutions when reversed.
Tip: try asking people for things that would get you all fired if you really want their most
despicable ideas.
