17. What we talk about when we talk about
social media
27. Social media…At its most basic sense, social media is a shift in
how people discover, read and share news, information and
content. It's a fusion of sociology and technology, transforming
monologues (one to many) into dialogues (many to many) and is
the democratization of information, transforming people from
content readers into publishers.

noises and bright
lights, who have a
small attention span
and who live for the
moment.”

different image for your work friends or co-workers
and for the other people you know are probably
coming to an end pretty quickly… Having two identities
for yourself is an example of a lack of integrity”
Mark Zuckerberg, 2009

#planking By ND Strupler cc by CROPPED.jpg Planking (or the Lying Down Game ) is an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. Both hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game. [1] Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. [1] The term planking refers to mimicking a wooden plank . Rigidity of the body must be maintained to constitute good planking. (Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planking_%28fad%29)

Mask from Lady Vic cc by nc “ radical transparency. ” In short, Kirkpatrick argues that Zuckerberg believes that people will be better off if they make themselves transparent. Not only that, society will be better off. (We ’ ll ignore the fact that Facebook ’ s purse strings may be better off too.) My encounters with Zuckerberg lead me to believe that he genuinely believes this, he genuinely believes that society will be better off if people make themselves transparent.
