My magazine will be called "Ignite" and will focus on up-and-coming rock artists looking to gain publicity. It will be similar to the UK-based magazine "Rock Sound", which includes both well-known and lesser-known bands. "Rock Sound" is published monthly and often includes unreleased songs on CDs to help promote new artists. I want my magazine to also focus on promoting new rock talent in their quest for wider recognition, rather than just featuring established artists.

upcoming artists.
Rock Sound.
Mainly covers rock, pop-punk,
punk and similar music genres,
but rarely indie rock. Presents
both less known and very famous
artists.
Kerrang!
UK based magazine focusing on
rock music. When it was first
published it was devoted to the
new wave of British Heavy Metal,
as well as the rise of hard rock acts.
Metal Hammer.
Sister magazine of Classic Rock. It
is a monthly magazine that
includes artists from the whole
spectrum of heavy metal music,
from popular artists to unusual
ones.
6. I have chosen the name ignite for my magazine because it is a short word, which means it
will be catchy for the target audience. Also, since it is a shorter and more blunt word, it
means that it suits the genre because rock music isn’t associated with delicate or long
words.
I have chosen the font because it is thin and has more sharp and jagged
edges. This means it is suitable for the target audience because it fits with the sharper
nature of rock magazines.
I would like to base my rock magazine on… ROCK SOUND.
The UK Rock Sound music magazine first came out in 1999, and has always been known for including CDs in a lot of its additions. The
CDs often include songs from new albums that were not released as singles to the public. The magazine has also included CDs of
artists who want recognition, as a lot of the artists included are less well known.
Rock Sound is released monthly, and focuses on both famous and less known bands. Its main rival magazine is Kerrang, as they both
have similar artists on the cover, but Kerrang is weekly and focuses on more famous artists, while Rock Sound is released montly and
has a balance of known and less known artists.
I want to base my magazine on this one because my magazine will be a first edition, meaning it will focus on up and coming artists
who are looking to get publicity for their big break, rather than famous artists who are looking to promote their new music.

All about Rock music.
The rock music genre is an alternative music genre which originated from ‘rock and roll’ in America in the 1950’s. In the 1960’s, rock music started to develop
into different styles, especially in the UK and US. Rock music is mainly made up of electric guitar with a 4/4 time signature, however it has been developed a
lot over time and now rock music is very diverse. Rock music presents many themes, some similar to pop with songs about love, but other express views
about politics or give out messages of hope or tell stories of struggles.
Rock Fashion is typically associated with dark colours and chunky, shapeless clothes. More traditional rock fashion also
consists of a lot of bandanas and having long hair, as a typical dance to do with rock music is head-banging, which involves
throwing your head back and forth in time to the music. The long hair, which was also very wide too, was to match this.
Today, mainly young people, male or female, aged 12-15 are seen to have the modern rock look. Typically today, people will
wear dark skinny jeans and band t-shirts. For young males, this isn’t obvious as they just wear darker clothes and typically
will have longer hair. For females, it is more obvious and noticeable because they will be wearing much heavier makeup, such
thick black eye liner and red lipstick, as well as having dark hair or an unusual bright colour such as red or purple.. Also, black
nail varnish and wristbands/bracelets are seen worn excessively on girls who follow the stereotype strongly. Also, some who are very into making a statement
in this fashion area, will wear chokers, which is a type of necklace that is worn wrapped close to the neck, instead of hanging as a necklace does. Having a
heavy fringe flicked over to one side across the face, and sometimes covering one eye, is a very stereotypical hairstyle of both males and females who into
this type of music. However, this is not true of all people who listen to this music because many choose
to avoid the look. This could be due to people dressing like this sometimes being called ‘emo’, which has very
negative connotations due to the lyrics of songs and the actions of very few who listen to this music.
The types of dancing for this genre of music are mainly head banging or moshing. Head banging involves the listener to aggressively throw their heads back
and forth in time with the tune or the beat of the song. Moshing involves when people are at a concert for these kinds of artists, they jump around and make
a point of crashing amongst each other, again in time to the music. Circle pits are also commonly seen at rock concerts, which involved listeners running in a
circle created in the crown with other in time to the music. This can be dangerous but is very popular.
