PREFACE
     Once upon a time in a land of traditional learning, there was a facilitator who
wanted her students to have real-world experiences that gave them reasons to write
and a passion for doing so. Now, this facilitator remembered the dark days when
outstanding writers submitted their works to great publishing kingdoms on high,
only to be rejected time and again. Then one day, she discovered a treasure map on
which was written the cryptic letters “NTN” and “PBL”. Notes scrawled on this
map hinted at the existence of a fabled frontier where citizens took control of their
ideas, and where their words had credibility and impact.




The facilitator gazed at the map and resolved, “I will travel to this land with
learners through the fog of old paradigms and outdated philosophies. Surely then,
all will be made right again, and education will be authentic. ”

And so the quest began . . .
INTRODUCTION
         No longer is publishing difficult. The Internet offers an outlet for
people who want to express their opinions, impart knowledge, or
demonstrate their creativity.
         Instructors should leverage this fact when designing projects.
When learners have the opportunity to publish, it follows that their
products tend to be of higher quality. Currently, there are publishing
venues for almost everything, many which are free or low cost.



How To Use This Book
         Publish is an interactive resource. As such, each page links to the
website for the company it depicts, featuring learner samples of New Tech
High @ Coppell creations. Simply click on the page to view these
examples, as well as to find sign-up information and upload instructions.
         To provide the most authentic experience, the student publication
process should culminate with presentations such as gallery walks, book
signings, and author talks.
For all my learners, past, present, and future. Thank you for adding
                         meaning to my life.
