6. Household Appliances
Fire safety protection is a mandatory requirement for appliances that enter in our houses. EN 60335
part 1 is the standard that defines how household and similar electrical appliances can meet the overall
requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and other few, as relevant. Following the constant request to
increase level of protection, also after dramatic events like the Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017, today
huge activities are in place in order to define more strict standards for the new generations of appliances.
Furthermore, environmental sustainability is becoming more and more a requirement; as an example, the
Swedish Law 2016:1067 is trying to reduce the exposure to hazardous substances contained in electronics
to the general public.
VAMP TECH is since a long time a supplier of choice of the Household Appliances market, with a wide ran-
ge of approved materials in different demanding applications. Our product range includes several grades
that can comply with GWEPT (750°C) requirements, UL 5VA, ASTM E 162, needle flame to name most
important ones.

8. Electric & Electronics
Plastics used in electrical applications have to show excellent electrical performances, good mechanical
properties as well as high dimensional stability under heat, in addition to suitable flammability behavior.
With more than 30 years of experience in flame retardant formulation and manufacturing, VAMP TECH
can exhibit an outstanding portfolio of solutions for major applications in this area.
Our solutions can be based on different polymers and for the majority of the formulations custom colors
can be reached, together with optimization to laser writing or welding.
10. E-Mobility
Lowering CO2 emission level of car fleets is today a mandatory target for automotive industry; light weighting,
aerodynamics improvements and motor electrification are some of the most important solutions to achieve
the challenging requirements of the new Regulations. In addition, electric vehicles can also offer a very high
standard of driving experience, with very low noise and outstanding performances in acceleration and torque.
Nonetheless, electrification and metal substitution are bringing new challenges for plastic components.
- Flame retardancy: high voltages, increasing number of connections and control electronics, inherently
flammability of some chemicals are some of the factors that increase the potential risk of fire; external re-
charging of BEV and PHEV represents an additional concern.
- Thermal conductivity: metal substitution with plastic can lead sometime to thermal conductivity issues;
VAMP TECH can offer Thermal conductive grades and the experience to support part designers in finding the
right solution to thermal management problems.
- EMI shielding: increasing deployment of control electronics in vehicles is leading to a growing necessity
of protecting them from Electro Magnetic Interference. VAMP TECH can supply ready-to-mold solutions that
allow designers to integrate those systems and avoid costly secondary operations. Due to the high knowledge
in flame retardant chemistry, VAMP TECH can supply flame retardant EMI shielding formulations.

12. Public Transportation
The public transport industry is a major actor in redefining mobility and taking environmental issues into account;
actually, public transport is considered to be the most reliable long-term solution to reduce pollution. Thus, in the last
years a huge attention has been placed in increasing the level of safety and service corresponding to the height of this
mission. Today, all materials used in rail vehicles must follow the EN 45545-2 standard in order to achieve the highest
level of safety possible in the event of a fire; the standard affects high speed trains as well as regional and urban rail
vehicles. VAMP TECH has developed along the years a portfolio of solutions that covers the main product requirement
classes with the highest Hazard levels:
- R1 for interior surfaces
- R6 for seats and shells
- R21 for Upholstery assembly for seats
- R22/23 for interior seals, chock and coils, supply line system devices, small scale materials.
Changes in regulations have also involved fire safety requirements for buses, that used to be rather low in the past,
and mainly related to horizontal burning tests. With the new regulation ECE R 118, now the following requirements has
to be met:
- Horizontal flame propagation (as per Annex 6)
- Dripping tests for ceilings (as per Annex 7)
- Vertical burning tests (as per Annex 8)
14. Building & Extrusion
Although plastics are not always visible in buildings, they are used in a wide range of applications, inclu-
ding insulation, piping, window frames and interior design. Thermoplastic based compounds offer some
unique features, like resistance to corrosion, durability, insulation, cost efficiency and fire resistance.
VAMP TECH can offer different solutions for building applications, thanks also to different approvals and
certifications achieved by its main grades (German B1 classification, French classification M1 and M2 class)
