1. This was the first clip that appeared on the trailer. This allowed me to see the distributor . Seeing
the distributor of the film can sometimes be very useful if people Know them very well. If the
distributors have a good reputation for the person, The person may feel more comfortable and
excited to watch the film. Having the film distributor of the film at the beginning of the film
sometimes gives people an expectation for the film due to films they have made in the past.
Sometimes, Film companies decide to have the Distributors of the film due to the idea that some film
distributors have a specific type of films that they are known for making so this allows the audience to
have a little idea of what the genre will probably be. There are a few examples of this. When ever we
see ‘Walt Disney Pictures’ at the beginning of a film we tend to know that it will be about
fantasy, cartoons and happy endings etc. We generally get this idea due to the use of specific type of
films which is covered by their production company. Another example of a distribution company
which only promote a certain type of genre of film would be Pixar as they are always known for only
doing animation. Now having the Distribution company at the beginning of the film allows us to
become aware of this and allows us to grasp a little idea of what to expect in the film.
2. During the Teaser trailer, Voice over was used. This was quite useful due to the idea that it
allowed us to really understand what was going on. This allowed us to feel the voice of the person
to sound familiar. Not only that, Using voice over also allowed me to feel very involved with what
was going on due to it being said in first person. It allowed me to establish who was talking and get
use to the voice of the character. Now when using Voice over, People tend to find it quite hard due
to the voice having to be believable and actually going well with what is taken place in the film so it
is always very important that if you are using voice over, it has t be done properly or it could look
very realistic. The voiceover in this teaser trailer was used from the beginning which carried on
throughout. I believe the use of voice over was very useful in this teaser trailer as it allowed us to
understand what was happening and allowed us to feel involved as if the main character was talking
personally to us. We able to get an understanding of the film. When watching a few other teaser
trailers, I noticed a lot of voice overs were actually used. I think this is due to the element that in the
teaser trailers only little is given away through conations and denotations so using Voiceovers can
be very useful.
3. I also specifically picked this clip as It also stuck out to me. The denotation
of this image would be a ‘girl screaming’ but I believe this image connotes
fear, Stress, death, loss and aggression. When seeing this clip the expression
on her face gave me this connation. I didn’t even think of her screaming , It
just made me feel very scared. The use of using conations and denotations is
very useful I believe and Is used a huge amount in teaser trailers. Throughout
this teaser Trailer I was caught by all the different types of
conations, props, miss-en-scene etc. that was used to make it look very
professional and intriguing.
I specifically picked this clip from the
Teaser trailer to take a better look at.
The denotation of this picture would be
a ‘ real life heart’ but I believe this
Image connotes something else due to
the reason that I believe it implicates
love, affection, friendliness and care.
The use of this image was placed very
closely to a scene which was quite
affectionate.
When watching the
Teaser Trailer, The denotation of this
being a ‘ real life heart’ isn’t what first
jumped to my head, it was the
connotation which I really thought of.
The heart pumping made me feel that
maybe he was in love and that was why
it was pumping so fast.
