Here are three strategic goals that align with the vision and mission statements:
1. Improve quality of care by investing in advanced medical technology and equipment. This supports the mission of providing quality services and the vision of becoming the leading healthcare provider in the region.
2. Expand patient services to include primary care, dental, behavioral health and community outreach programs. This will help achieve the mission of educating the public and the vision of growing the facility over time.
3. Develop strategic partnerships with insurance companies and government organizations to increase patient volume and ensure financial sustainability. This supports both the mission of serving the local community and the vision of a larger, more profitable facility in the long run.
Scenario A specialty memory chip manufacturer is located in South.docx
1. Scenario: A specialty memory chip manufacturer is located in
Southern California with manufacturing plants located in the
United States, Europe, Singapore, and Japan. Additionally, it
has branch sales offices located in major metropolitan areas
across the globe. The market for its six key products included
original equipment manufacturers of personal computers,
cellular telephone manufacturers, electronics distributors, and
government organizations. The market environment
for its products is extremely volatile with fluctuating demand
and rapidly changing prices. The company uses short-term
contracts (less than 1 month) and spot pricing for irregular
customers. Internally, the operation is capital-intensive with
depreciation running approximately $1.2 million per day
(depreciation has an impact on revenue streams). The 6 key
products had further specialized components, making the
possible line mix total 24 distinct products. Further, the
manufacturing process required high manufacturing lead times
and various product yields. In the high technology memory
arena, product life cycles were dramatically shortened because
of rapid obsolescence. To coordinate the manufacturing activity,
the company has an established process and system that helped
optimize resource utilization, improve shop floor efficiencies,
and manage customer demand.
The company is experiencing 10–15% growth in revenues and
volume, primarily tied to increased worldwide demand, product
type, and market variables. Most significantly, the company
received a major preorder for a new cellular phone memory chip
that is scheduled to come out in 3 months. This preorder is
scaled for up to 10 million units, and management is concerned
that the existing process and system may not be suitably
optimized for this order. Additionally, the forecast in sales
figures for all six key product lines is higher than it has been in
the past. With the increase in volume, management is concerned
about the quality management process as well—can the existing
2. processes maintain the highest degree of quality needed?
As a new member of the production planning management staff,
you will be expected to help develop strategies to support the
expanded growth plans. Your team faces several fundamental
issues. First, are the individual plant layouts conducive to the
expanded growth expected by the company? Second, are
individual plant layouts optimized for the most efficient
performance and lowest cost? Third, is the existing supply chain
interaction among all the various components optimized in the
same manner individual layouts are expected to be optimized?
Finally, your group must consider capacity planning and
workflow to ensure the company can meet its contractual
obligations with the maximum revenue and profitability. It
currently uses information systems developed by the company
to conduct production planning. You believe that a fully
integrated enterprise resource planning tool or specific
production planning software would better suit the company in
light of its upcoming increase in production.
Using course materials and other resources, research and
identify potential software applications with consideration for
the following:
1) Should the company use an ERP package or specific
manufacturing production planning utilities?
2) What are the advantages and disadvantages of each course of
action?
3) Identify the candidate pool of software you considered for
selection, select a single product, and justify your reasoning.
Some of those for consideration may include the following:
SAP, i2, Seibel, and SAS for the larger ERP/CRM/SCM
vendors. Alternatively, Production Scheduling, RSS

ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS 1
HEALTH SERVICES IN RELATION TO ENVRIRONMENTAL
ANALYSIS 8
Health Services In Relation to Environmental Analysis
Dr. Mountasser Kadrie
July 27, 2014
As a manager in Ford Rehabilitation centre, I have
encountered several challenges in both external environment
and internal environment that have greatly challenged the
increasing demands of my patients’ services as well as failure
of the reimbursements of funds by the insurance providers.
Environmental conditions normally affect human health in
varied means. Interactions between the environment and human
health usually lead to very complex ethical queries that are
related to health policy decisions. There are various factors in
the environment that can lead to risks and the same time
benefits. They include genetically modified plants,
4. nanotechnology, bio fuels and other technology. There is a body
of evidence that have emerged saying that environment can
affect the health of human being and at the same time human
health can have impact to the environment.
The external factors are factors in the environment that
cannot be controlled by an organization. There are several
external factors that affect many health organizations; these
factors include political conditions, government policies and
regulations, technological environment and social environment.
In my organization the two key external factors affecting my
company are the social environment and technological
environment. Social factors have developed challenge in the
Ford rehabilitation centre. This is because many patient
customers have varied and different types of beliefs which make
the relations in the health centre challenged. It have become
problematic to deal with some patients since it is difficult to
know the type of services they need based on where they have
come from. Various patients have diverse transformation in
attitude towards health care. The patients are however very
demanding in my organization because each one of them needs
to be handled differently based on community variations. In
order to curb this, as manager I have decided to implement
several programs that will promote cooperation between my
patients as well amendments that will bring in suitable services
5. to each patient. Implementation of this programs will enable
my organization to continue being indispensible and financially
stable despite the social challenges affecting the availability of
patients in the organization.
Another external factor in the environment that will have
a great impact in my company is technological environment.
Implementation of more advanced methods to serve my
customers is likely to improve patients’ attendance and this will
boost the company’ to remain financially solvent despite the
challenges. Use of medical technology is most efficient way to
bring the costs of medical services down. Based on my patients’
demands, they should now expect medical technology. I have
already set various platforms on how to implement it because
this will earn me a lot of income selling it and hence my
company will remain stable to contradict the challenges that are
likely to cause the collapse of the organization. This technology
will entice many patients due to advanced services such as
advanced heart disease care and fine care services. Use of
information systems in my organization is also likely to
improve the mode of services to the customers since it is fast
and manageable. Eventually this will be one of the milestones in
making our work and services as per customers’ demands.
There are various factors that leaders in various health
6. care organizations should apply so as to meet their objectives in
meeting the competitiveness of the organization. One of the
internal factors that the leaders should consider is the
knowledge. It will be crucial for them to heighten and develop
an awareness and knowledge about the health risks that are
likely to occur in future. The leaders should have a clear
understanding about the dangers that are likely to occur in
future which may tremendously affect the financial solvent of
their organizations. There is very limited evidence that states
that one’s shape or behavior is likely to be shaped by the
individual’s attitude or knowledge toward a particular disease.
This is one of the areas where leaders in health organizations
should be conversant with. It will enable meet their patients
needs as well as fulfill the demands generated. The leaders
should also try to compel more evidence on whether education
influences the human behavior consequently. It will be also
crucial for the leaders to understand that the knowledge of risk
factors of a certain disease is likely to determine the personal
risk in a more accurate manner. This will aid in determining the
perceptions in which one’s vulnerability of the infection is
determined. It has been proven that information alone especially
in rehabilitation centers is not likely to change the behavior of a
person. This means that the leaders ought to find more methods
and conduct a research which might favor their mode of
delivery to the patients’ demands. Raising the standards of
7. correcting misconceptions and the knowledge itself will be very
crucial as a strategic plan in which the leaders can begin to
cover themselves as well as make insuring their population.
This will promote inaction of humane and effective legislations.
Another key internal environmental factor that the
leaders should consider is the Life Adaption Skills. They should
learn that for an effective self regulation of one’s behavior,
there is a requirement of certain skills for self guidance as well
as self- motivation. Each leader should be aware that these
skills are very crucial in determining people’s social situations.
They form an integral part of risk reduction chances and they
are more likely to induce one to effectively resist risky
behavior. In return, such knowledge is likely to attract more
customers in the organization and despite the charges the
patient will be willing to pay since the services and the demand
they need most have been met. This will in return meet the
profits of the organization as targeted. Many leaders are still
not aware of factors necessary when discussing touchy matters
such as safe sex. Behavior is not easily changed by use of
limited skills but it requires the leaders to understand and
implement other abilities such as effective communication
skills, assertiveness skills as well as verbal tone abilities. This
will aid in bringing future competitiveness in diverse
organizations. Knowledge about such skills by the future
8. leaders will also create an environment in which the health care
of patients is met as per their expectations. An organization
with such services is likely to cause a stiff competition to those
which will be dragging behind still.
So as to maintain the financial solvent of an
organization, I would recommend a manger to implement a
strategy to improve access to Quality Health Care and Services.
This is a very crucial area of concentration because each
organization’s dream is to make profits and attract more
customers. So as to initiate this, the manager will be expected
to develop several platforms that will see the strategy come
true. The strategic plan will involve integration of public
health and primary care, expansion of oral health and behavioral
health services, promote innovative and cost efficient approach
as well as increase in outreach and enrollment into good health
care. This is a milestone in which the patients’ demands and
services are met. Other goals of this strategy will involve the
managers strengthening health systems and assurance of
medical home for those who are served. This will generate
quality health services by an organization.
Strategic management involves implementation as well as
formulation of objectives and initiatives by an organization’s
management. It is usually based on the resources considerations
9. after the assessment of the company’s internal and external
forces of environment which gives some organizations stiff
competition. On the other hand strategic thinking is defined as
the thinking that is normally applied by person so as to achieve
especially in an organization. It involves the generation and
application of unique business chances so as to generate a
competitive advantage in an organization. Strategic planning
involves the process by which managers in an organization
define direction and the same time make decisions on how to
allocate resources to conduct this strategic planning. Managing
the strategic momentum is one of the three elements of strategic
management. It usually involves decision-making processes and
evaluates the strategy ongoing. It mostly relies on new periodic
strategic plans as well as strategic thinking.
External factors normally occur outside the organization.
Despite this, external factors may have varied significance in
the organization based on growth as well as its long-term
sustainability. Several managers tend to ignore the external
factors without putting into considerations detrimental errors
they commit. A component that provides health care services
may also be regarded as an external factor. Such systems consist
of hospitals and healthcare organizations. As we all know health
centers compete for third-party payers, patients and physicians.
The significance of healthcare component is that organizations
10. are now able to compete for more patients and they do this by
offering better services and amenities to their customers. Based
on the technological environment, organizations which have
new medical discoveries and more developed technology are
likely to have more potential in recruiting knowledgeable
medical personnel. This will lead to improved health care
services and eventually development of an organization due to
increased number of patients who are enticed by staff members
who are likely to meet their needs fully
There are several factors that are associated with the
competitor service analysis that are meant to meet the needs for
the customers in the world of marketing. The analysis tries to
distinguish strategic objectives and thrust as well as define the
organization’s present and future strategies. The analysis also
helps organizations to understand competitor’s strengths and
weaknesses and give a layout on how to develop a strategy that
is likely to compete against the competitor. There are several
advantages of competitor analysis service. It is used by
organizations in improvement of product and service analysis.
For those organizations who want their products and services to
be first moving uses the competitor analysis to schedule the
products for competing brands. It also helps an organization to
separate itself and the services from the competitors.
11. Internal environment analysis helps the organizations in
meeting competitive and sustainable advantage. This analysis
helps managers to understand and distinguish the strength and
weaknesses of their organizations. It is also very crucial in
making useful strategic decisions of the company.

Mission Statement
A mission statement is a formal document in any business
organization that contains information regarding to the purpose
as to why the business exists; in other words, it gives reasons
for the existence of the business (Hill 2008). There are various
reasons as to why Ford Rehabilitation Centre should exist; some
of the major reasons for its existence are outlined below:
First of all there is need to provide quality medical attention to
the people living around the location of this Rehabilitation
13. Centre. The hospital is dedicated to ensuring only quality
services are provided to the citizens despite of the various
challenges the healthcare centre is undergoing currently. For
quality services to be offered, the hospital has resorted in
employing only qualified professionals in the medical field who
have been tested and certified that they can offer a quality
service to our customers who majorly the patients from the
region of location of this healthcare facility. The management is
also aiming at improving technological environment that will
improve the service quality.
The second most important reason as to why Ford Rehabilitation
Centre exists is to provide basic knowledge to the general
public on issues related to health. The management of the
hospital has decided to come up with interactive programs that
will involve both the general public with the medical
professionals. In these programs which are anticipated to be
held once in every four months, are expected to equip the
general public with basic skills of handling patients around
them to ensure that they do not infect others especially with
diseases that are regarded to be highly contagious. In addition,
these forums are also aimed at offering the general public with
knowledge on first aid skills so that they can be able to take
care of other people in cases that need first aid rather than
rushing them to the hospital.
14. Vision Statement
A vision statement is a formal document in businesses that
majorly contains the strategic plans of a business according to
what the business is dreaming to achieve either in short term (3-
5 years) or in long term which is usually over 5 years. Ford
Rehabilitation Centre has both long term and short term
achievements that they are visualizing to achieve in the next
coming years of its existence; some of which are outlined
below:
In a short term achievement, the healthcare facility is aiming at
becoming the best healthcare facility that enjoys most of the
competitive advantage against other healthcare facilities in the
region. To accomplish this, the business is aiming at offering
cheaper prices for all the services it engages which in turn
attract most patients into this health care thus earning it more
profit.
A long term vision for Ford Rehabilitation Centre is to grow in
terms of structure; in other words, about 10 years down the line,
the health institution is expected to increase its buildings. This
expansion will give room for both increases in the number of
patients and the number of medical professionals in the
hospital. This will therefore cater for those medical persons
with qualified skills and qualities to receive jobs and also help
15. patients to enjoy the beautiful environment of Ford
Rehabilitation Centre premises (Jude 2005).
Another long term vision of this healthcare facility is to also
establish a school for those people wishing to pursue any field
within medicine. This is anticipated to take place around 5 years
after the premises of this healthcare facility are expanded
whereby major doctors within the country will be expected to be
employed here as the lecturers to teach interested people
concerning medical issues.
Three strategic specific goals that align with the ideals in both
vision and mission statements
The first goal to be accomplished by Ford Rehabilitation Centre
is the employment of a good hiring technique that will ensure
only qualified professionals in the medical field are employed
in the hospital. One of the best hiring techniques the
management wants to adopt is the pre screening of those who
come to seek job opportunities in this hospital. Pre screening is
a technique used to test the knowledge of the job seekers which
in this case they should not know that their knowledge is going
to be tested by being given a real life example. If the job seeker
is able to pass this test, it will be a satisfying factor that he/she
is competent for the job opportunity. Therefore, if this goal of
employing pre screening technique as the method for hiring new
employees, it will ensure that, only qualified professionals are
16. employed in Ford Rehabilitation Centre and thus good service
delivery will be the result.
Another goal to be achieved by this hospital is the improvement
of environment and especially the technological environment.
Technological environment is expected to increase the rate at
which customers are being served and thus ensuring that the
hospital is able to achieve it mission of providing the best
services to the public as well as its vision of growing and
expanding drastically.
The last strategic goal the hospital is expected to achieve so
that it can also achieve its mission and vision is the
improvement of management techniques. These techniques will
be expected to improve the working condition of all the doctors
and other medical professionals in this hospital. When workers
are treated in a better way with the management, it is expected
that the workers will treat the customers as well in a better way
and thus leading into increase of more customers in this health
care and thus meeting its mission and vision.
Recommend one specific adaptive strategy or combination of
adaptive strategies that would be most effective in ensuring that
the organization achieves its strategic goals
A combination of the sprinter and migrator adaptive strategies
are expected to be to be the best strategies to employ that will
17. ensure that Ford Rehabilitation Centre achieves all its strategic
goals. The sprinter adaptive strategy involves the hospital
management looking at what is new within the medical market
and ensures that it has that particular item. This ensures that the
hospital is always at the forefront in knowing what has occurred
recently at the technological environment and thus ensuring that
it continuously upgrades the technology used in the hospital and
thus maintaining and increasing the number of their customers.
The migrator strategy is applied in cases where a big change is
required in the hospital. Various changes need to be undertaken
to always ensure that the hospital is well informed; in this case,
migrator adaptation strategy will play a vital role in ensuring
this has been done and also achieved (Walter 2010).
Three delivery services to help in achieving the goals
The first delivery service the hospital can deliver is to ensure
that all the job applicants are treated very well when they come
for their interviews during the hiring process. For instance, the
management can ensure that they are provided with some meals
of the day such as breakfast or lunch. This delivery will ensure
that those who are expected to be hired are freed off of all the
fears they may be having before the interview and the pre
screening process begins. This service delivery will ensure that
the job seekers are able to express themselves fully with no fear
and thus making it easier for the management in charge of
18. hiring to be able to know these people in their persons as well
as their qualifications as stated by their certificates.
Another service delivery to ensure that goals are achieved is the
provision of education and especially on the use of the
technological equipments that will be employed in the daily to
daily operations of the hospital. Each and every employee is
expected to have the knowledge in operating each and every
technological machine to ensure that they can serve the patients
without for assistance from other workers. This also expected to
reduce the time limit allocated for each patient to see the doctor
thus making sure the hospital handles as many patients as
possible (Olsen 2012).
The last service delivery the hospital that can as well be
employed to ensure the goals are achieved is the organization
monthly meetings whereby all employees are expected to be
addressed on critical matters in the hospital. During these
sessions they expected to identify their strengths, weakness as
well as threats and come up with ways and skills in which they
can deal with their weaknesses. Also in these session employees
may be taught on new methods of catering and handling of
patients and thus ensuring the quality of service is always the
best, therefore achieving the goals.
Three support components that will be necessary in achieving
19. the goals
First all the hospital management should ensure that there are
vans allocated at different points that will be fetching the
employees at a particular place and ensure that they arrive on
time to work. This will enable all workers to be always punctual
at the hospital and give services to the patients. Providing of
these vans ensures that the time challenge is addressed and thus
all the profits expected to be gained at a certain time will
always be gained and in some instances the profit target can be
surpassed (Anthony 2005).
The second support component that will help in achieving the
goals set is that the hospital should ensure that it creates a base
in which patients can rest as they wait for treatment. Other than
that the hospital is also planning to have a flat screen television
that will be used in entertaining the patients as they wait for
treatment. This will be put in effect to ensure that patients
become engaged in their minds as they wait for their turn to be
treated by the doctor or for medical checkups. This component
will ensure that patients enjoy their stay at the hospital and thus
making sure that the hospital retains all the customers that do
visit and hence it will continuously gain profits.
The last support component in achieving the goals stated above
will be ensuring that all the patients are handled with much
20. confidentiality as possible. In a healthcare set up, it is important
for one to understand confidentiality is the key factor for any
conversation that is expected to be held between the patient and
the doctor. Confidentiality should therefore be employed to
ensure that customers enjoy privacy to their information and
hence build trust in this medical facility (Reeve 2007).
Select one approach to maintaining the selected adaptive
strategies to ensure the mission and vision are achieved
The selected strategies above all need a financial approach to
ensure that there are financial crisis in the implementation of
the expected goals and thus achieving the mission and vision of
the Ford Rehabilitation Centre. A lot of capital is needed for the
achievement of both the mission and vision; this therefore calls
for the management to increase its sources of income. For
instance the management should ensure that there are lots
investors who are ready to invest into this business. The
hospital is not expected to look at the profits it is supposed to
make as the source of capital; it should rather look at other
external sources that will ensure that not even one time the
hospital should lack funds for its day to day operations. Finance
is therefore a key approach that will play a vital role in these
achievements.
