2. Living Conditions The dogs are forced to sit in their own urine and feces which can cause the pads on their feet to burn from the acid. The Puppies do not get the attention they need for a normal life. Some of them starve to death or die from dehydration.

3. Some of the dogs that are rescued from puppy mills everyday have been found with chains embedded into their necks from [1] not getting their chained loosened when they have grown, [2] from poling on or being polled from their chains.

4. What can you do? These puppies may seem as cute as can be but in reality they come from terrible backgrounds. Their mothers are most likely back at puppy mills giving birth to thousands of litters of puppies. The puppy in the pet store windows probably have at least one type of disease, been abused and neglected, and starved since birth. They could have been brought to the pet store before legally aloud to be sold. Even if they were brought to the pet store once they are old enough, the owner, more likely then not, doesn’t have a breeding license. To help stop puppy mills from getting the money they want, you shouldn’t buy puppies from pet stores.

5. The mothers The mothers of those cute puppies have never had a good life. The spend their whole lives being pregnant and then giving birth. They were born to breed. For their whole lives they will be giving birth. All the way until they die.

6. The government and states could help by enforcing laws against animal abuse.

7. Puppy Mills have been known to be more popular in the mid-western states. To help reduce the amounts of puppy mills in the mid-western states, they have made stricter laws. They must now tell the buyers at pet stores the history and health information of each puppy being sold. They must tell if the pup has had shots recently, when its last visit to the vet was, and also how old it is.
