1. Painting and Decorating Jobs
I had some bad news just recently, you see it's my neighbour "Jean" her
husband died recently, he was a young man really (43). He had a heart attack
and was gone and Jean was on here own. Well I looked in from time to time
and had a cup of tea with her and a chat (she was glad of the company), Jean
didn't know what to do, she had little income and the house was too big for
her, so I suggest that she should down size and have a bit of money in the
bank and a smaller property with less out goings.
Well she agreed and we set about a plan to get the house valued and ask the
estate agent the best way forward, he said the house needed a complete
refurbishment with a new swish kitchen and bathroom. He worked out that
doing all the work would add about £45000 onto the value of the house, that's
great that would mean that after the sale Jean could buy a nice little flat and
have a bit of cash in the bank to see her through until she can get a job and
get on with her life.
Well we needed to find some local painters to do the painting and decorating
jobs and someone to put the new kitchen and the new bathroom in. We
decided to have a look in the local do-it-yourself supermarket just to get an
Idea on prices and what's the latest designs on offer. Well Jean enjoyed that,
ladies like to shop in case you didn't know, it was our lucky day , the store was
having a sale to clear out the old kitchens and have some new ones to put on
show.
Well we asked the manager if we could have them measure up "Jeans"
kitchen and see if the display kitchen would fit, and they measured up and the
kitchen would fit with no problem, well we worked out a good price with them
and gave the go ahead to fit it as soon as possible. We also asked the
manager if they could help us find some local painters for the painting and
decorating jobs in the house, and yes they could and he said they are first
rate and he has known them for a number of years.
We only have to find a new bathroom suite and then we are good to go, I was
looking on "Ebay" for bathrooms and found a really nice second hand one, I
showed Jean and she really liked it so I bought it there and then. I said to
Jean that I could fit her new bathroom and take the old one down the local
dump, she was really pleased and that was another job sorted out.
The kitchen fitters were starting next week and I have put the new bathroom
suite in, I just need to sort out the painting and decorating jobs, I phoned the
local painters and we agreed what needed doing and the price and they will
be starting the painting and decorating jobs in a few days time.
At last the kitchens in and looks great, the fitters did a good job and they also
did some tiling jobs just to fit in with the new kitchen and bathroom, the local
painters have started and they are fast workers and it won't be long before
the whole house is done and Jean can move on to the new flat she is looking
2. for. And so it's a big thank you to the local painters and the kitchen fitters for a
job well done.
