3 r's

  1. 1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R’s) Kemberly n. lee
  2. 2. INTRODUCTION The purpose of this activity is to provide you with basic information and ideas on waste management. This will also help us to be more resourceful on materials that we can reutilize and at same time reduces solid waste production.
  3. 3. What is reduce, reuse, recycle?  Reduce – is decreasing unnecessary and wasteful purchases.  Reuse- is a way of using again the item or materials.  Recycle- is to make something new from something that has been used before.
  4. 4. Reuse RecycleReduce
  5. 5.  Buy only what you need.  Buy products that can be reused.  Buy all-purpose household cleaner.  Buy products with little packaging.  Sell or give away unwanted items.  Reduce paper waste. How can we reduce?
  6. 6.  Papers and envelopes can be used as scrap paper in making notes.  Cardboard, Newspaper and Bubble Wrap can be used as packing materials.  Jars and Pots can be used as small containers  Plastic and Paper Bags can be reused in the shops, used as bin bags or wrapping paper.  Used wood can be used in woodcrafts for making objects.  More... How can we reuse? (Think before you throw)
  7. 7. How can we recycle?
  8. 8. Benefits of Recycle  Recycling reduces the need for land filling and incineration  It prevents pollution  It saves energy  It decreases emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change  It conserves natural resources  It helps sustain the environment for future generations

Hinweis der Redaktion

  • -“Reduce" means: Decreasing unnecessary and wasteful purchases, decreasing the volume of waste, and decreasing pollutants.
-"Reuse" means taking care of our things so that they can last longer, repurposing used items, donating or giving away unwanted stuff, and upcycling waste materials.
-Recycling is a PROCESS, which includes: the Collection and Segregation of waste materials, the Processing and Remanufacturing of these materials, and the purchase and use of the recycled product.
  • By learning about and practicing the three R’s of waste management: Reduce, reuse and recycle
Practicing all three of these activities every day is important for a healthy environment
Decision in making our world a safe and healthy place.

Reduce- to make something smaller or use less, resulting in a smaller amount of waste. “SOURCE REDUCTION” is reducing waste before you purchase it. A key part of waste “reduction” is “conservation” – using natural resources wisely, and using less than usual in order to avoid waste.

Reuse to use again or more than once. Reuse materials and items so that they have longer life spans and don’t get thrown away after the first use.

Recycle to convert materials/ waste into reusable material
