Mexican Art by Frida Kahlo  By Katherine Brown
FridaFrida Kahlo de Rivera was born in 1907 in Coyoacan Mexico. She is best known for her self portrait and her ability to display Mexican Culture and Amerindian culture in her art work.
Frida Kahlo- Rivera Kahlo had a stormy but passionate marriage with the prominent Mexican artist Diego Riveria. She suffered lifelong health problems, many of which stemmed from a traffic accident in her teenage years. These issues are reflected in her works, more than half of which are self-portraits of one sort or another. Kahlo suggested, "I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best (www.wikipedia.org) Frida and  Diego had an open relationship, where in which Frida had many love affairs with both men and women.
Surrealist Art. Frida’s art has been called by many Surrealist Art. Many Mexican art and history historians have called described her art as Naïve art or Mexican Folk art.
Her inspiration  A major source of Frida’s inspiration came from the accident that she was in when she was only a teenager. Frida suffered several injuries and as a result was in constant pain. Frida once remarked that she painted her self because that is what she knew best.
