Project title: European Integrative Network of Outdoor Adventure Education and
                            Experiential Learning

Project Description:
"European Integrative Network of Outdoor Adventure Education and Experiential Learning" is the
working title of a project presented by the German non profit organisation "bsj Marburg e.v. - Verein zur
FĂśrderung bewegungs-und sportorientierter Jugendsozialarbeit", that works with the physical aspects
and potentials of life styles. Since 1993, bsj runs the outdoor centre "ZERUM" in Mecklenburg-
Vorpommern, which is specialised in using outdoor adventure education for the integration of disabled
young people.

The project is aimed at creating a transnational partnership and co-operation between European
organisations which use outdoor adventure in their work with disabled young people. The idea is to
identify best practices, develop quality standards for practical work on a European level and discuss
concepts and approaches related to the organisation of youth exchanges focused on outdoor activities,
including disabled young people among the participants. The project establishes a European Web page,
including a database giving information on organisations active in the field of outdoor education
activities with disabled people and providing a discussion forum to exchange views on best practices.
Secondly, a User's Guide in different languages will be published, including ideas and directions for
developing and implementing European Youth Exchange projects including disabled people. Thirdly, the
sessions on developing quality standards on a European level are to result in the implementation of a
European certified two-years course "Outdoor education with handicapped young people". And finally a
European Congress will be organised towards the end of the event, displaying the achieved objectives.
The project will take place in each of the partner countries involved: DE/PL/PT/UK. About 300
participants will take part in the activity.

Project title: "Inclusion through outdoor activities"

Project Description:
The activities of the project co-ordinator, the UnviersitĂĄ del Terzo Settore, are addressed to people
providing services in the third sector. The aim is to improve the efficiency of the sector through the
development of research and training for third sector operators.

In collaboration with a number of national and European partners - BE, GR, NL, ES, SE - the UnviersitĂĄ
del Terzo Settore aims to promote active participation of young people with fewer opportunities and
disabilities. In this framework, the project will be focused on developing a model of outdoor activities for
the social inclusion of young people with physical and mental disabilities. By exchanging experiences,
the partners will identify guidelines on how to motivate and involve this target group in international
activities in general and the YOUTH programme in particular. The project aims to strengthen the
collaboration among the youth associations and national regional authorities willing to promote active
European citizenship among young people. Through the project, the partners will identify training
modules and tools for outdoor activities. A pool of trainers will be enabled to use outdoor activities in
the YOUTH programme projects addressed to disabled people.

In order to reach the objectives, the applicant envisages a series of activities such as transnational
meetings to organise activities and to share experiences, two international training courses on outdoor
activities for youth workers, realisation of two youth exchanges involving disabled young people and
using outdoor activities, two EVS projects involving disabled young people and a final conference. The
applicant and the partners foresee the production of a good practice guide.

Secondly, a User's Guide in different languages will be published, including ideas and directions for developing and implementing European Youth Exchange projects including disabled people. Thirdly, the sessions on developing quality standards on a European level are to result in the implementation of a European certified two-years course "Outdoor education with handicapped young people". And finally a European Congress will be organised towards the end of the event, displaying the achieved objectives. The project will take place in each of the partner countries involved: DE/PL/PT/UK. About 300 participants will take part in the activity. Project Coordinator: VEREIN ZUR FÖRDERUNG BEWEGUNGS- UND SPORTORIENTIERTER JUGENDSOZIALARBEIT E.V.
