hinges
Available in five different finishes.
Hinges made for 1/2" partial inset
doors on a face frame cabinet.
Partial inset doors have a cutout
(rabbet) on the edge of the door.
The cutout measures 3/8" in "lip"
direction and 1/2" in the "inset"
direction.
None Self-Closing
means that the hinge
does not have any
spring action. This
type of cabinet hinge
requires a cabinet
catch to keep the door
in the closed position.
Also known as a free

Metal foot in
furniture
Metal legs offer an exciting look
when set against wooden
cabinetry or furniture. Of course,
they’re also right at home with
laminates. Self-levelling with
glides to protect floors.
Feet are often used in furniture
making so as to keep them a
certain distance up the ground to
avoid corrosion from detergents
used to clean floor etc.
Wooden feet for holding furniture
above ground but also to prevent
base from getting damaged by
humidity of mopped floor
This is pretty much a
standard universal foot

Research on solid wood lipping:
Solid wood lipping:
MDF can be used for most applications with directly moulded and finished edges without the need for
adhesive bonded solid wood lippings which are normally required with moulded edge particleboard
panels. The well compacted edges of MDF ensure good machining with well defined profiles which can
be finished to a high quality level.
Types of lipping: butt
jointed lipping and
tongued lipping are
mostly used.

27. Evaluation of Model
Folding ironing
board
User placing bar
in position
The user lifts up the foldable ironing board and
places it in a stable position.
He then positions the stay bar under the folding
ironing board to keep it in a horizontal position.
Problem faced by user is that if too much force is
applied on the folding part, it might collapse
which might prove to be dangerous for user.
The user finds it comfortable to use the ironing
table for it is at a reasonable height for him.
He irons the clothes while moving the iron to and
fro and side to side onto the ironing board.
As seen in the second photograph, the user can
user the maximum of the ironing board’s surface
area.
It can be found that the surface area for the ironing
table is appropriate for easy ironing of clothes.
(large surface area)
The user has also the necessary facility while making
use of the iron tray holder; it is at the reach of the user’s
hand, therefore he can very easily keep the iron while or
after use on it.
The user as seen in the image is using the drawer in
which he will probably store items.
He extends his hand a bit to reach the handle and
pulls the drawer by means of its handle.
The drawer is
pulled by user
and it glides onto
the rails while
being opened.
User has easy
access to the
drawer.
The user draws
the storage unit
for unironed
clothes by
pulling the
frame. The frame
is conducted to
the front by rails
to which it is
fixed.
The user has to
bend to remove
clothes from the
storage unit.
Front picture of user using the storage unit for

Forward movement of hand to pull the sliding

Bending position by user to place of remove clothes or items from the lower shelves.
Hands are extended in such a way to reach these.
The user has to

posture while
dealing with the
lowest shelves in

unit and his hands
extend even
more.

Client’s evaluation of Model
Client 1: “The ironing table is appealing
and serves well its purpose; it got a storage
unit for ironed as well as unironed clothes.
It, moreover, has space for keeping items
like: iron or even water spray. He finds the
ironing table stable; however, he does not
like the folding ironing board which for
him can collapse at any time, thus, hurting
him.”
Client 2: “Personally I like the design of the
ironing table but I find that it would be
better not to include the folding part.
Furthermore, I find is tiring to bend and
place clothes on the lowest shelf because I
got back problems. On the whole, the
ironing table purports its task.”
Possible Improvements:
However I have found certain areas for improvements:
The front leg of the ironing table is not quite stable.
The foldable part can collapse if the stay bar is moved, a potential
source of danger indeed
The lower shelf problem as highlighted by client
The overall appeal of the design.
Self Evaluation of Model:
Well, I find that the ironing board functions
well. The user can easily iron clothes but
also keep them in storage areas. On the
whole, I find the ironing board to be user
friendly. It is a practical design for an
ironing table.
Nevertheless there are flaws in my model.

FINAL SOLUTION DESIGN:
36. Product Planning
Once dimensions have been obtained in the Final Solution, boards
need to be cut on size ready for assembly.
A regular board size measures 1220 x 2440 x 18 mm
First of all, number of sheets needed for the manufacture of the
ironing board should be known.
A 1:10 diagram shows the dimensions of board needed to:
1) Eliminate wastage.
2) Know how many boards will be needed.
3) Exactly know how to proceed with cutting out.

67. POSSIBLE CIRCUITS DESIGN:
Vs = +12V
A1 = A2 = A3 = A4: ¼ LM339
D1 = D2 = D3 = D4: 1N4001
M1 = M2: 12V Motor
In the schematic above, A1 and A2/ A3 and A4 form a window comparator which
gets varying electrical values from the voltage divider made up of LDR 1 and LDR2/
LDR 3 and LDR 4. Pins 1, 2, 13, 14 are the outputs and can each go can high and
low; these pines are connected to the four input pins of the L293D which will drive
the motors accordingly. The outputs from the window comparators will also be
connected via diodes to the enable pin of each channel; this enable the L293D to
unlock each channel with the enable pins (pin 1 and pin 9). To unlock the channel
the enable pins must receive a voltage of more than +5V. The whole circuit will be
supplied through a voltage regulator to give this circuit a steady +12V DC; a power
switch and indicator will be included.
To make an Arduino microcontroller into an effective solar tracker, programming is of great importance, but designating which
components will go to which pin of the Arduino must be solved first. The LDRs are connected in series with a 1KΩ resistor of a
¼W; a connection is made from the analog pins of the Arduino to a connection between the LDRs and their respective
resistors. This forms a voltage divider and therefore the Arduino can read the varying resistance as the sun moves. The L293D will
be connected the same way as in solution 1 but the enable pins and input pins are all connected to the digital pins of the
Arduino. Enable 1 and Enable 2 would be connected to digital pins 12 and 13 respectively; pin 2 and pin 7 of the L293D will be
connected to the Arduino’s digital pins 6 and 5, while pin 10 and pin 15 of the L293D will be connected to Arduino’s digital pins
10 and 11. The Arduino would be programmed to unlock the channels of the motor controller when it needs to send pulses to
the inputs of the motor controller. The motors will move according to the values of the LDRs. Fig. 4, Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 shows the
breadboard configuration of the circuit.

68. POSSIBLE CIRCUITS DESIGN:
FIGURE 4: FIGURE 5:
Colour Code
Green: Sensor.
Orange and
Yellow: Motor
Control.
White: Enable.
FIGURE 6:
SOLUTION 3:
This solution is exactly the same as solution two, it uses the Arduino and the LDRs are all place
into the same voltage divider configuration to be read by the same analog pins of the Arduino.
It is fully automated and can reset; programming will slightly modified to accommodate the
additional component which is an Arduino Motor Shield. The Arduino Motor Shield is the motor
controller in this solution and it comes with additional functions like brake and speed control.
The Arduino Shield Motor allows better and accurate motor control and gets incorporated on
top of the Arduino; therefore the Arduino and Arduino Motor Shield become one.
Programming becomes slightly simpler since the motor controller is completely compatible with
Arduino. No additional components are required in this circuit; it is completely digitalised.
