Global warming

  1. 1. BY:-
  2. 2. The changes in the surface air temperature, referred to as the global temperature, brought about by the enhanced greenhouse effect, which is induced by emissions of greenhouse gases into the air.
  3. 3. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas)
  4. 4. Example of the Greenhouse Effect The Sun’s energy passes through the car’s windshield. This energy (heat) is trapped inside the car and cannot pass back through the windshield, causing the inside of the car to warm up.
  5. 5. COP15- Copenhagen Climate Conference  An overview of the Climate Change Conference (also known as COP 15), held in copenhagen, Denmark, in the middle of December, 2009.  There was a lot of hope and optimism before this conference that a meaningful climate negotiation could be agreed to, as climate change concerns are increasing rapidly.  Instead, a mixture of posturing from nations such as China and the US, and the inability for nations to agree on numerous issues led to a meeting failure.
  6. 6. Rising Sea Level Increased Temperature Habitat Damage and Species Affected Changes in Water Supply

  11. 11. Temperature (Northern Hemisphere) CO2 Concentrations Degree Celsius Increase Parts Per Million Year Year
  12. 12. Emission of GreenHouse Gases
  13. 13. Billions of Metric Tons Carbon Gigaton Carbon 2007 Our Goal in CO2 Per Year Reductions
  14. 14. Wind Power Solar Power
  15. 15. What can you do to help solve the problem?
  16. 16. Turn off your computer or the TV when you’re not using it. Take shorter showers. Heating water uses energy. Keep rooms cool by closing the blinds, shades, or curtains. Turn off the lights when you leave a room. Use compact fluorescent bulbs.
  17. 17. Dress lightly when it’s hot instead of turning up the air conditioning. Or use a fan. Dress warmly when it’s cold instead of turning up the heat. Offer to help your parents keep the air filters on your AC and furnace clean. Walk short distances instead of asking for a ride in the car. Plant a tree. Recycle.
