1. San Francisco Performances Listening Report May 14, 2010
POSITIVE MENTIONS:
Summarize the key themes: Is this what you want people to know, think, feel, or do? Has
anything changed when you look at the themes over time?
We received a lot of mentions this week because we announced our 2010-2011 season. Just
getting into print media and on blogs, etc. with our announcement is positive!

“Among the highlights of the San Francisco Performances 2010-11 season, announced
Tuesday, are the West Coast premiere of a Philip Glass violin concerto, "The American Four
Seasons"; a San Francisco appearance by Yo-Yo Ma's celebrated Silk Road Ensemble; and a
first-time collaboration between violinist Regina Carter and the Oakland East Bay Symphony,

NEGATIVE MENTIONS:

address it or fix the problem? Who needs to know? New issue or recurring?
Negative mentions this week tended to be response to the coming season from readers of
blogs, etc.

2. Pull out any insightful quotes
-- “I listened to the Glass violin concerto on bbc/radio 3 and it's a piece of indulgent crap.”
-- “Can you elaborate on the self-indulgence? I rather liked the piece, it's great to hear that
Glass' style evolves, even if some of his recent work has not been up to par (Kepler, for
instance, or Naqoyqatsi).”
NEUTRAL MENTIONS:
Summarize the key themes:
Calendar mentions of upcoming presentation at SF Conservatory.
ACTION:
Summarize what you’ve learned related to your program, brand, or issue. What decisions can
you make?
A bit more discussion about San Francisco Performances this week, but clearly we need to
expand our outreach.
Describe in a sentence any ideas for applying the information in your outreach, messaging,
program improvement, etc.
We are going to set up our Twitter account to make more noise in cyberspace.
New Ideas for content, programs, etc.

3. Influencers: Identify any individuals that you think may be influencers in the social media space
that you want to cultivate
Came up with a strong list of influencers to follow on Twitter, hopefully that will lead to more
interaction. Also will be on the lookout for influencers we’re not aware of.
Engagement: Where have you engaged with individuals?
Through SFP’s Facebook page – we posted twice this week.
DISTRIBUTION:
Who should receive a copy of the report?
Directors of Marketing, Public Relations and Education.
Do you need to point a specific listening data point to a particular program or individual?
Not quite sure what the question means.
