Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision
Gardena Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in identifying a hit and
run driver
On August 20, 2011 at 9:04 pm, Gardena Officers responded to a call of a vehicle vs pedestrian
traffic collision on Rosecrans Ave, between Budlong Ave and Normandie Ave. Upon their
arrival, Officers found a female Asian adult lying on the street with severe injuries. Los Angeles
County Fire Department Paramedics responded and immediately transported the female to
Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the female was crossing Rosecrans Ave and was struck by
a vehicle traveling westbound. After the collision the driver fled the scene. Witnesses have
stated the driver had been driving erratically prior to the collision and after colliding with the
pedestrian continued driving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle is described as 2000-2001
Honda Civic or Accord 4-door gray in color with tinted rear windows. As a result of this
collision, it has damage to the left front and driver’s door mirror is missing. Witnesses have
described the driver as male Hispanic adult, 25-30 years of age, short or shaved hair, and
medium to heavy build. There were also at least two passengers in the Honda
The Gardena Police Department is asking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of the
Honda. If anyone has any information or witnessed the collision, please call Investigator Victor

The Gardena Police Department is urging the driver of the Honda to do what is right and contact
us.
The name of the female pedestrian is has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
