• 1957 - Equal treatment for women and men was a
founding principle of the EU
• 1997 - declares equal opportunities between women and
men network of women (Treaty of Amsterdam)
• 1999 - action plan to promote gender equality in science
• 2000 - female workers have taken 3 quarters of the
newly generated European jobs in Europe.

knowledge and innovation
• Sustainable growth: promoting a more reasearch
efficient, greener and more competitive economy
• Inclusive growth: fostering a high employment

10. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
• strengthening the role of women scientists in decision-making
• supporting more transparent career appraisal system and
stimulating research environment in the spirit of the European
Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for their
Recruitment
• enhancing solidarity and involvement of (male) decision-makers in
promoting gender equality in scientific decision-making
• raising awareness within the scientific community, in the general
public and among policy makers about gender and research

15. SUMMARY
• Project DIVERSITY - an accelerator for the institutional and cultural change
for a greater inclusiveness of women at all levels of scientific research,
• She figures survey results - promote up-to-date situation, trends, urgency
and importance of this subject,
• The results of McKinsey survey confirm that the crisis has not had impact
on firms priorities or their efforts to promote GD and also reveals that
gender diversity is often not a corporate priority,
• To continue in increasing gender diversity and innovation - particularly
female element influences and contributes to better economic indicators,
• European Union legislative documents play significant role in this process.
16. CONCLUSIONS - 7 FP
• support general Slovak trends which are supported by the EU,
• refer to Slovak practices in the area of gender equality,
• reflect the best practice and situations in Slovakia relating to gender diversity areas
and innovation in academia and research organizations.
POSITIVE EFFECTS OF GENDER DIVERSITY:
• driver of creativity and innovation
• increased international competitiveness
• improved efficiency and quality
• optimization of human resources
