•Ephesians 4:4
There is one body
and one Spirit—just
as you were called to
the one hope that
belongs to your call
• Colossians 1:18- And He is
the head of the body, the
church. He is the beginning
the firstborn from the dead,
that in all things He might
have the preeminence.
• Col. 1:24 - Now I rejoice in
my sufferings for you, and in
my flesh I am filling up what
is lacking in Christ’s affliction
for His body sake, which is
the church

6. One body
• Ephesians 2:16 And
that He might
reconcile both (Jew
& Gentile) unto God
in one body by the
cross having slain
the enmity (hostility)
thereby.
• Ephesians 3:6 This
mystery is that the
Gentiles are fellow heirs,
members of the same
body and partakers of the
promise in Christ Jesus
through the gospel. (ESV)
• Ephesians 5:23 For the
husband is the head of the
wife even as Christ is the
head of the church: and
He is the savior of the
body (KJV)

7. Called—Body
✓Colossians 3:15—And let
the peace of God rule in
your hearts, to which you
were called in one body
and be thankful.
✓2 Thessalonians 2:14—
Whereunto He called you
by our gospel to the
obtaining of the glory of
our Lord Jesus Christ.

8. Baptized into One body
❖1 Corinthians 12:13 For by
one Spirit are we all baptized
into one body, whether we be
Jews or Gentiles, whether we
bond or free; all have been
made to drink into one Spirit.
❖Galatians 3:26-27 For you
are all sons of God through
faith in Christ Jesus. For as
many of you as have been
baptized into Christ have put
on Christ.

9. The Lord adds to His church
‣ Acts 2:41 Then those who
gladly received his word
were baptized; and that
day about three thousand
souls were added to them.
‣ Acts 2:47 Praising God
and having favor with all
the people. And the Lord
added to the church daily
those who were being
saved (NKJV)

11. We must abide in the
doctrine of Christ
✦1 Corinthians 4:17 For this cause have I sent unto you
Timothy, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord,
so shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be
in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
(Ref. Acts 2:42)
✦2 John 9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the
doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in
the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the son.

12. Application
✓Christ only purchased one church and He adds
those who have obeyed the gospel.
✓The apostles taught the same thing everywhere.
✓Christ is the head of the church which is His
body.
✓Once in church of Christ, we must abide in the
doctrine.
