2. Diagnostic procedures, ranging from non-
invasive to invasive testing, are valuable
diagnostic tools for the cardiovascular
system. These procedures can catch cardiac
problems before symptoms develop in most
cases.
4. Cardiac Enzymes
What are cardiac enzymes test?
During a heart attack, or myocardial infarction “ which is the medical term for an
heart attack”, damaged heart tissue releases specific proteins called “Cardiac
Enzymes”. To diagnose a recent heart attack is to test a person’s blood for
increased levels of these enzymes. This particular test evaluates the detection of
a myocardial infarction in the process, or a life threatened myocardial infarction .
This test will diagnose any injury that has been done to the heart muscles. Also
this test will detect the reestablishment of blood flow through a blocked
coronary artery, after a routine angiography check, or treatment using a
medication to dissolving a blood clot like Heparin . This type of test is preform
throw a simple lab draw from the arm.
5. Cardiac Scan
What is a cardiac CT scan?
Cardiac computed tomography most commonly called “cardiac CT”, is a painless
test that uses an x-ray machine to take detailed pictures, and sometimes (three-
dimensional) film of your heart. A Cardiac CT scan is a non-invasive way of
obtaining information about the location of calcified plaque in the coronary
arteries. It's one of the most common way to showing the doctor of their any
type of heart problems present. During a cardiac CT scan the machine will move
around the patient in a circular motion, taking picture of each part of your heart.
Each picture that the machine takes shows a small slice of the heart. A computer
will put the pictures together to make a large picture of the whole heart.
Sometimes an iodine based dye is injected into one of your veins during the scan
to help highlight blood vessels and arteries on the x-ray images. Plaque is a
build-up of fat, and other substances, that can narrow the arteries, and close off
blood flow to the heart. The result may be painful of angina in the chest, or if
goes untreated could lead to a myocardial infarction .
6. Holter Monitor
What is a Holter Monitor?
A Holter monitor is a small, device that keeps a records your heart
rhythm. This particular monitor is a device that you would wear for
one to three days. During that time, the device will record all of your
heartbeats. A Holter monitor test is usually performed after a
traditional test to check your heart rhythm. A Holter monitor has
electrodes that are attached to your chest with, adhesive pads,
which is connecting the probes to the recording device. Your doctor
uses information captured on the Holter monitor's, to figure out if
you have a heart rhythm problem.
