Good manners in Poland

  1. 1. Savoir vivre. Paulina Ciepiela .
  2. 2. I would like you to make short rules, which everyone knows, but it sometimes happens, we forget about them. Please treat the presentation as a basic lesson of good manners of behaviour and you can recall it in any situation that you face in your life.
  3. 3. Smile instead of acid mine . Even if you are not in a good mood, try not to show it. A clerk at the post office, a saleswoman in a store, a customer at work are not guilty, that you forgot your phone or had a row with your wife or husband. Smile and you will see that life looks like better then.
  4. 4. Hello , how are you ? Do not treat people like the air! Get the kind welcome when you walk into an elevator, a nice 'thank you' when someone passes you at the door, a brief exchange of views with your older neighbour about the weather. We all love when we see a neighbour ...
  5. 5. Do not touch other people's territory . Check if you do not stand too close to people in an elevator or on a bus. Make sure that you do not push someone with your trolley in a queue to the cashier in a supermarket. Some people may feel very uncomfortable in such a situation. It is assumed that the distance between strangers should not be less than half a meter.
  6. 6. You do not need to know everything . Everyone has right to secrets. Even the closest friend is not obliged to tell you everything. If you feel that someone does not want to move a topic, do not insist, and do not be offended. Honour the privacy of another person.
  7. 7. If you can use a lipstick to your mouth without a mirror, you can do in a public place so quickly and discreetly. By contrast, serious amendment in make-up, such as cover-up make up of eyelashes or nose should take place only in a secluded spot. Make up your mouth alone .
  8. 8. Some drivers feel the car as own four walls. It's a mistake! Although picking a nose during a stop at the traffic lights is the domain of men, you also remember not to scratch, do not check whether you have the mesh stockings, do not pick teeth. In the car you can also see ...
  9. 9. Chewing gum has recently promoted to the rank of a healthy product, but rather do not do a show to show that you know about this. At home, enjoy the taste of a gum if you want, but in a public place chew a gum always with your mouth shut. Forget about chewing gum for example, during the conversation or in the church. Chewing gum discreetly
  10. 10. The fact that now almost all the viewers tend to tuck in at the cinema and eat crisps, does not mean that you must do it loudly. The sounds of your meal for the person sitting near you can be irritating. Do not disturb other people to watch a movie. At the cinema you can not see, but ... hear .
  11. 11. How to greet and introduce yourself .
  12. 12. Generally, a man greets a woman, while a younger woman greets the older one (but do not be too fast - an older woman pulls out his hand first). Who shall be first .
  13. 13. Kiss your hand ... Madame . This rather controversial form of greeting has many supporters, especially among the older generation. If you do not wish to kiss the hand of welcome to give it clearly that you expect only the grip - low, with the thumb pointing upward. When you still bend over your hand, let him that gesture - hand pulling will be unkind.
  14. 14. Kissing in a cheek is a way of welcoming a friend. However, remember not to welcome in such a way your teenage nephew, because you would make him feel uncomfortable. If somebody does not like kissing, it is not ibligatory. Kind words and a handshake are enough. A kiss to welcome .
  15. 15. Be punctual . If the hosts have identified precisely the time at which guests are expected, it is not proper to be late more than a few minutes. You can spoil the party scenario, especially if the dinner menu are the hot dishes. Nor come before its time - the hosts may not be ready.
  16. 16. You are not allowed to smoke in public places like cinemas, theatres, restaurants, parks, cafes, etc. However, in some public places, for example restaurants, there are special sections for smokers. You can smoke only there. Smoking is prohibited in Poland under the age of 18. Remember that! Are you allowed to smoke here?
  17. 17. Good relations with neighbours .
  18. 18. If you live i n a flat, you must be careful not to disturb the others. Try to use your washing machine or do vacuuming by 10 p.m. Playing with the dog, who likes to bark is also not a good idea in the evening or at night. Do not switch the washing machine late at night .
  19. 19. Renovating an apartment, interrupt neighbours. It will be nice when they say this in advance. Be more patient if your neighbours do not like noise. Plan your work during a day, do not work in the evenings. Doing repairs .
  20. 20. Always take a dog on a leash, even if it is gentle as a lamb. Your neighbors may not like dogs You can never be sure if your dog uses its claws or gets angry ! Watch for your pooch .
  21. 21. Phone label
  22. 22. When someone calls at the wrong time, admit that you are busy. Promise that you will call back and specify the time. Ideally, if the caller asks if you do not mind. Do not be afraid to say that you do not have time .
  23. 23. Oops, you forgot to turn off the cell again! This should not happen in the theater, cinema, church, during important meetings and private business. Disabling the phone to be a natural reaction, such as a picture coat. Oops, you forgot to turn off the cell again!
  24. 24. In public places limit your phone calls to an absolute minimum limit, unless you find a retreat where you can safely continue the conversation. You could disturb the others. Fellow on the train or bus, guests in the restaurant certainly do not want to hear how you spent the day. Does everyone have to listen to your conversations?
  25. 25. Good manners at work
  26. 26. If the company applies a formal dress (suit, costume), you do not have room for maneuver. If not, the appropriateness of dress depends on your intuition. Clothing for work should never be too sports and free. Keep a special care when you meet with clients - the impression it makes, will affect the assessment of your business! Your dress shows about. .. your company .
  27. 27. The work is not always on impact on everything on your way. When the boss tells you have disappointed the customer, do not demonstrate dissatisfaction too ostentatious. Do not show your bad mood at work . If you can not control, go for a walk for a moment to silent bad emotions. Do not get angry.
  28. 28. Show me your desk, and I know who you are . Maintain order in the workplace. Desk with pile s of papers, the remnants of food, and newspapers can give the impression that the same mess you have in mind. So think of the customer or a new boss and think over what he sees. Keep your place of work clean and tidy.
  29. 29. Remember that others can hear you . If you work in one room of people, you must not forget that you hear each other for several hours without a break. In this situation it is difficult to concentrate. Do not switch the music so loud, because some people prefer to work in silence. Favorite radio station you listen through headphones. Do not keep a loud telephone conversations - colleagues need not know the conditions under which you take the credit or feel like your mother in law. If you must, go out on an isolated hallway.
  30. 30. The Internet also bound by the rules
  31. 31. Please check your e-mail at least once a day. The idea of electronic mail is the speed of information exchange, so in accordance with this principle, it is not proper to leave the e-mails unanswered. Yuu should answer a mail within 24 hours. Do not leave e-mails without response .
  32. 32. Attachments . For many people, videos and drawings are just spam, you lose time and computer memory attaching unimportant things..
  33. 33. Etiquette at table At a table
  34. 34. Finished a meal? Say it with cutlery . If you eat more, lean on the edge of the plate cutlery, so that the fork does not touch the knife. In contact angles mean cutlery: ask for good measure. Knife and fork made with the right signal that you finished your meal.
  35. 35. During the conversation never hold hands in your pocket, do not scratch, not look at your fingernails and do not look sideways. Try to maintain eye contact with people who you are talking to. When sitting at a table in a chair, do not nod and no drill. Keep your hands on the table, but do not lean your elbows on the top. Do not remove the shoes under the table, even if a crowd and you're sure that nobody has noticed. Conversation during the meal .
