The malware, TSPY_MINOCDO.A, sends users to a spoofed Facebook
security check page that sports the tagline "Security checks help keep
Facebook trustworthy and free of spam", said a release. "Users eager to
log into Facebook may fall victim to this ruse, taking the 'security check'
for face value. This may result in them entering their details and thus
exposing their credit card accounts to cybercriminal infiltration," said
Rajat Sahu, Product Marketing Manager, India & SAARC, Trend Micro in
the release.

The latest malware alert comes at a time when Symantec Internet Security
Threat Report 18 warned that it has noticed a 280 per cent increase in bot
infections in India. In fact, India accounts for nearly 15 per cent of global bot-
net spam, responsible for disseminating an estimated 280 million spam
messages per day worldwide. In addition the report highlights a 42 per cent
surge during 2012 in global targeted attacks, as compared to the prior year.
Anand Naik, Managing Director-Sales, India & SAARC, Symantec said there
was a clear focus among cybercriminals to target individuals, systems and
organisations where the highest profits can be made.
