#1 What are Your Goals?
What are you intending to build your blog for…i.e. What’s Your Target Result.
Is it a hobby,
Are you looking to build a list
Is it e-commerce - selling right on the blog is very important
Is it for content marketing
Is it your creative ideas sharing base
Are you intending to MONETIZE?
The above will also determine the type of traffic you will ultimately attract or wish to
serve long term. And Where they are located. So very Important to determine.
I hear many new bloggers who say they have no clue what they are doing or why. Their
driving force is To Make Money…My Question is always WHY? Until you determine why
you need the money & decide whether blogging is the doorway to that, you wont be
going anywhere fast!

#2 What’s Your Niche = Blog Type?
How often you post to will depend on what type of blog you have! For instance a
Seasonal Easter Blog will need maybe once a month or every quarter and may be
twice a week leading up to the season!
A news-focused, fast-moving type or trending topic might need updating daily and
maybe even several times a day e.g. the Buzzfeed Blog etc.
So you NEED To Ask yourself:
- Who am I trying to reach = Target Audience
- Where do they hang out = Online and offline
- How often should I post without getting old aka boring
The Answers to these Questions will help you knuckle down to; How often you should
post. One size doesn’t fit all in the blog-sphere!

#3 What Categories/Main Topics Will You Blog About?
Sit down and WRITE DOWN SOME IDEAS, in your areas of interest or Target audience
interests! Get a nice, long list going. Write Down some Post headlines. The idea is to
see how many posts you can come up with to get you going at the start. The more the
better as it will affect your Initial posting Schedule & Momentum. The idea is to create
momentum and avoid Writers block too early! - You don’t want to post every single day
and then run out of ideas in 2 mins.
So if you can come up with 100+ ideas, you may want to consider posting 4-5 days a
week! I have a full post on Article Ideas for you here: http://juleskalpauli.com/7-
effective-resources-to-create-infinite-blog-posts/
Thing is, it doesn’t matter how many you actually come up with, just that you know
how many topics you can write about to begin with.

#4 Plan To Succeed = Consistency & Routine
You need a system in place to Post Regularly based on your Time availability &
priorities. This system can be created via Google Docs. It really is your Content Creation To
Do List! This will help to attract the right kind of audience to your blog and convert them.

2016/
Don’t go pumping out 10 articles a day without defining your blog/brand goals and
creating a plan to attract your customers. Its best to start with one post weekly without
fail, than post for 5 days/wk for 6 weeks and then fall off the wagon due to fatigue or
writers block!
Whether you’re posting once a month, once a week or 5 days/wk, the most important
thing is that you are consistent in your posting. This will also help the your SEO Rating of
your Blog in the search. Search engines love regular, consistent fresh content on a
website.

#5 When to Post
For some its all about writing blog posts when they are inspired to write!
For others its daily,
For us its 3 times a week!
I KNOW from personal experience that posting a blog every day is pretty tough. It was a
challenge to pump out great content day after day after day. I literally burnt out. It didn’t
allow much time to promote the posts or even comment on other blogs. Remember
reading & commenting on other blogs is one of the best ways to find new content for
your blog too, and building a following too!
I totally believe it’s important to have a life away from your blog it will help clear the
cobwebs & refresh your mind! You need time to play, love, relax, or whatever. VERY
IMPORTANT! Also Posting content for the sake of it will impact on the quality!

When to Post cont.
As you learn and grow, Calculate your Average Writing speed, This will hekp ij
determining how often you post!
As you grow an audience, Ask them, do a survey: How often Do You Want Me to Post?
Use a simple Aweber form they can fill out and Then Give them what they want?
Assuming you aren’t writing for yourself. But You are The Sole Contributor & Promoter
right! So you might like to look into these!
You will then find that balance between writing and Promoting your post!
As you grow your blog, you might like to outsource some jobs to a VA to start with and
then an in-house team later!
