3. Para poder hacer invitaciones usaremos los verbos
modales; want y would. Son parecidos, solo que would
es un nivel de cortesía o educación mas avanzado.

5. "Want" is direct and simple. Use this when you are
definite and stating a fact. However, be aware that being
direct may also sound rude and selfish.
“Want" es directa y simple. Utilice esto cuando usted está definido y
que indica un hecho. Sin embargo, tenga en cuenta que el ser directo
también puede sonar grosero y egoísta.
Nota:
el complemento del verbo ‘want’ será una forma verbal,
donde el verbo será un infinitivo con ‘to’

7. ESTRUCURA:Would You Like To + Infinitivo
Se usa “would” para declarar una preferencia y para
preguntar por algo educadamente.
- I would like to invite you to have dinner next Sunday at my
place.
(Me gustaría invitarte a cenar el próximo sábado en mi casa.)
- I was wondering if you'd like to come to have dinner on
Wednesday evening.
(Me pregunto si te gustaría venir a cenar el miércoles por la
noche.)
8. Un verbo auxiliar que representa las terminaciones de los verbos
españoles –ría, -rías, -ríamos, -ríais y –rían, por ejemplo, compraría,
viviríamos, vendrían, etc.
Es el que se utiliza para la forma condicional en inglés.
Me gusta = I like
Me gustaría = I would like

10. ● Would nunca es conjugado.
● Siempre se utiliza solo “would” o “ 'd “ (short form).
● El verbo principal siempre está en forma infinitiva.
● No podemos decir: “I would to like coffee”.
11. ● Observa... “Would” y “had” tienen la misma forma corta: 'd
● He'd finished. (He had finished.)
● He'd like coffee. (He would like coffee.)
12. - Would you like/care to have dinner with us on Saturday?
(¿Te gustaría cenar con nosotros el sábado?)
- What/How about dinner tonight?
(¿Qué tal si cenamos esta noche?)
Con would you like to no se utiliza el gerundio.
I would like TO STUDY (Correct)
(Me gustaría estudiar.)
I would like studying (INCORRECT)
(Me gustaría estudiar INCORRECTO.)
13. Para aceptar una invitación podemos usar frases como:
- Thanks for your invitation. I'd be delighted to.
(Gracias por la invitación, estaría encantado(a).)
- Thank you. I'd love to.
(Gracias, me encantaría.)
- Yes, thanks. That would be great/wonderful.
(Si, gracias. Sería genial/maravilloso.)
- Sounds great/like fun.
(Suena muy bien/divertido.)
- OK/All right.
(Está bien.)
14. OSCAR: What are you doing? / ¿Qué estás haciendo?
NANCY: I’m cleaning my bedroom. /Estoy limpiando mi cuarto
OSCAR: Do you like parties? /¿Te gustan las fiestas?
NANCY: Yes, I love them. / Me encantan
OSCAR: Would you like to go to a party? /¿Te gustaría ir a una fiesta?
NANCY: That sounds great, but I have to finish my chores. When is it?
Suena bien, pero tengo que terminar mi quehacer, ¿Cuándo es?
OSCAR: It’s today at five in the afternoon. You have time enough to do them.
Es hoy a las 5 de la tarde. Tienes suficiente tiempo para hacerlo
NANCY: O.K. Where is it? / Bueno, ¿Dónde es?
OSCAR: It’s at JUAN house. It’s his birthday. /En la casa de JUAN, es su
cumpleaños.
NANCY: Do you have a gift for his? /¿Tienes un regalo para el?
OSCAR: Yes, of course. /Por supuesto
15. Refusing Invitations
(Rechazar invitaciones)
Podemos utilizar estas frases para rechazar una invitación:
- I'm awfully/terribly sorry. I have other plans for that night.
(Lo siento tanto, tengo otros planes para esa noche.)
- I'd really like to, but I have an appointment that day.
(Me encantaría pero tengo un compromiso ese día.)
- Thanks for asking, but I'm afraid I'm busy.
(Gracias por preguntar pero me temo que estoy ocupado(a).)
- I can't. I've got a lot of work to do.
(No puedo, tengo mucho trabajo por hacer.)
- Sorry. I'm already tied up.
(Lo siento, pero ya tengo un compromiso.)
16. Culture note:
In the USA, it is okay to tell someone that you cannot accept his or her invitation
(go to a party, lunch, have dinner, etc. But when Americans refuse an invitation
they usually give a reason why they cannot go.
(Nota cultural)
(En los Estados Unidos, es aceptable decirle a alguien que no puedes aceptar su
invitación, [para ir a una fiesta, a comer, a cenar, etc.] Pero cuando rechazan una
invitación, usualmente dan una razón del porque no pueden ir.)
