1. Midterm Reflection
Through the first 9 weeks of French 2, I have a lot to reflect upon. Already I can
tell it’s going to be harder than French 1, but with hard work and dedication I should be
able to do well in it. The reason it’s harder is because we are going deeper into the
French culture and the language itself, but at the same time I’m glad of this because I
really want to learn French and it’s culture. What I like the most so far in the first 9
weeks, is how we are putting effort in speaking rather than workbooks, I feel this is the
best way to learn the language than just completing worksheets because were putting
the language into practice. What I dislike the most about the class so far, is that it
seems we are expected to learn a lot in a short period of time, it seems like we learn
something on one day and are expected to know it right away. I did really well in
learning the vocabulary really quick, I feel I am getting some of the concepts about the
French language also. What I am doing bad in, is paying more attention in class at
times, sometimes I miss out on the lesson. My skills right now are were I want them to
be, although not perfected I feel I’m excelling in the class, before the class ends I just
want to keep up the good work. The great learning experience I have gotten so far in
the first 9 weeks, is the blog because I’ve never done anything like it, so it’s just
showing me the benefits the laptops bring to the learning experience. Communicating
the language has been a struggle to an extent, that I cannot pronounce the words all
2. would say the reason my grade is not as high as I would like it is because I can’t write
and speak in French that well. Two actions I will do to improve the way I approach
French 2, is I will take my recordings a lot more serious, and put more time in writing the
scripts for them. Also I will rely upon myself to learn French, not the teacher because
she won’t always be the reason I learn the language, I must be dependent on myself.
